mattag08 Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 Will we ever see a MP netcode update so that aircraft do not stop midair when there is a connection interruption or high latency? Every notable flight sim on the market in the last 20 years has used a system where if a player disconnects, lags, or temporarily drops connection the client airplane continues along the same path it was last flying before the interruption. Usually it is simply the linear velocities that are retained, but some sims will even preserve the angular velocities or even the linear and angular accelerations. Even just continuing the last linear velocities would do wonders to improving the problem. Considering that clients that have lost communication with the server are still considered for collision detection, this makes for a very precarious situation when flying formation. Given that flying military aircraft in formation is a given and one of the things that almost every group in the DCS MP community does is fly formation to some extent, it would be nice to have some fix that makes formation flying not any more hazardous than it already is. Not only does this apply to formation flying, but to dogfighting and aerial refueling as well. If you're directly at the 6 o'clock of the tanker or an enemy and you or the server lag, you will instantaneously explode as you fly through a suddenly stationary airplane at hundreds of knots. A fix to this is vital for future multiplayer success. I hope ED is in agreement with me that the health of the multiplayer side of DCS World is important to its future growth and long term viability on the market. Thanks for the consideration! Kayos Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 We will have to see when we get the new dedicated server I guess. Maybe they improved things. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
