The block of rockets Igla-B can be used on КА - 50, but whether it will be realized ED in "ЧА", it should be asked them.

exactly as i thought.

to britgliderpilot -- if the ka50r can carry the r73 as the cobra and apache can carry a sidewinder they obviously Must have some form of a2a detection/targeting system. probably in their helmet too.

The detection is in form of using the missile's IR seeker. Whether or not it can be slewed to the target via a helmet targeting system is depending on the WCS implementation.

i386DX40@42 MHz w/i387 CP, 4 MB RAM (8*512 kB), Trident 8900C 1 MB w/16-bit RAMDAC ISA, Quantum 340 MB UDMA33, SB 16, DOS 6.22 w/QEMM + Win3.11CE, Quickshot 1btn 2axis, Numpad as hat. 2 FPH on a good day, 1 FPH avg.

DISCLAIMER: My posts are still absolutely useless. Just finding excuses not to learn the F-14 (HB's Swansong?).

Annoyed by my posts? Please consider donating. Once the target sum is reached, I'll be off to somewhere nice I promise not to post from. I'd buy that for a dollar!

You do realise that detection by slewable missile seeker has never been implemented in lockon before, so what does make you think they will do that for BS? Okay, so while ED is at it, why not remove the bombs from the weapon loadout, the 23mm pods, all other rockets besides the 80mm and the Vikhr, as real service choppers fly with V-80 blocks and fuel tanks...

Better yet, why not simulate the addition of maintenance costs, and taking that into account before you lift off, so one day you have one Vikhr and some 80mm rockets, while the other you barely have money to pay for the fuel inside those external fuel tanks. Operational realism, operational realism...

Just say as things are, ie we don't know how Igla-V is supposed to work, we don't want to add the ejection charge (it says 'pop' first, then the missile shoots out, and only then the main engine starts), we don't want to research wether the seeker is slewable with the HMS, we don't have the time to add something that may only be fittited under hypothetical circumstances. But don't give us the 'it's not in service, tada' excuse.

the su33 27 and mig29 have helmet targeting for the R-73 The R-73 is an infrared-guided (heat-seeking) missile with a sensitive, cryogenic cooled seeker with a substantial "off-boresight" capability: the seeker can "see" targets up to 60° off the missile's centerline. It can be targeted by a helmet-mounted sight (HMS) allowing pilots to designate targets by looking at them.:smartass: and you can do it in Lockon

no u cant without either radar or EOS, try switching them off, u cant get a lock that way :( This makes the r73 useless in lomac

ps im totally drunk and stoned

There's only one mode that I'm aware of that directly slews the seeker, and that's with the helmet. So as far as LO is concerned, this is modeled close enough.

Does Black Shark model Helmet mode for aiming weapons?

Close enough? Not being able to do exactly what you discribe? You can lock with RADAR ON, you can lock with EOS ON, you can lock with both EOS and RADAR on, BUT, you can't lock WITHOUT EITHER the EOS or RADAR ON. When you try to lock with the seeker head itself, ie WITHOUT EOS/RADAR. This is possible, and is the primary mode with the HMS, but not in lomac.

maby we should tell wiki that there info is wrong

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamov_Ka-50#Weapons

According to Russian marketing conventions, they're probably right . . .

By which I mean that if you walked to Kamov with a large cheque and said "Can you fit an R-73 to a Ka50?" . . . the answer would probably be yes.

Same deal with Sukhoi, MiG, anyone . . . you want a weapon on their aircraft, give them some money, and they'll magically find a way to do it.

What matters to us is whether it's fitted to the "basic" model Ka50 . . . not the night attack version, not the Ka52, and not a prototype they tried it on once.
