klecko Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Hi All, I just bought a 22" to replace one of my 19" with a dual monitor setup. Then I learned about Matrox. According to Matrox, all monitors have to be running the same aspect ratio, resolution, and refresh rate. Has anyone tried this setup with the 22 in the middle? I'm wondering if I use the same aspect ratio on the 22, as I use on the 19s, if it will just have black bars on the sides of the 22, and I can overlap the 19s, or if it will stretch the picture? I also considered changing the 19s to a widescreen aspect ratio if possible. Has anyone tried anything like this? If it doesn't work I'm going to kick myself for buying this damn 22" instead of a third 19. Thanks.
britgliderpilot Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Now this is a new and interesting problem . . . . Logic dictates there's got to be a way through it somehow. Have you got the monitor screen sizes (in pixels) sitting to hand? My best guess is that a monitor will stretch a signal of the correct aspect ratio and centre one of the wrong aspect ratio. Whether the black stripes are at the top and bottom, or at the sides will depend on whether the aspect ratio is too large or too small. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg

klecko Posted August 7, 2007 Author Posted August 7, 2007 ok, the 2 19s are 1280 by 1024 and the 22" is 1680 x 1050 thx for you help
qrazi Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I assume this is about the Matrox TripleHead2Go? You need 3 monitors setup for a resolution of 1280 x 1024. Practically only 17" and 19" have this. Bigger screens can be set to lower resolutions ofcourse, but then lose their sharpness. Matrox does a good job at explaining what this product can do, and what is needed, on their website: http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/gxm/products/th2go/home.php MSI 870A-G54, AMD Phenom II X2 555 @Phenom II X4 B55 BE, 3.2 GHz quad-core, Asus EAH4870 DK/HTDI/512MD5, OCZ Gold Edition DDR3 1333MHz 4GB Kit Low-Voltage. Budget = Cheap = Good :D
