OnlyforDCS Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 So Im thinking about a way to employ the F14B as a stealthy ambusher rather than the all-seeing-eye long-range missile boat, and Im wondering about a few things before I go experimenting on the multiplayer servers. Is there a way to turn the AWG9 off, or at least to tell Jester to put it on stand-by mode and at the same time use the Link4 datalink on the TID display to find targets? My strategy would be to load up on Aim9M's and AIM54Cs, sneak low behind enemy fighters using AWACs calls and the Datalink and then either launch the heatseekers for maximum stealth or launch the Phoenix missiles in ACM mode once I acquire the targets visually. What do you think, is it worth a shot or is it a waste of potential? Looney Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Worth a shot but not with Jester, try getting a human RIO and a human AWACS and plan accordingly. The AWG-9 can be set to standby and a human rio can hook datalink targets on the TID (been there, done that), you can't fire missiles but at least get BRAA calls from the rio. Once in position, fire up the ACM and go for it :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Commodore 64 | MOS6510 | VIC-II | SID6581 | DD 1541 | KCS Power Cartridge | 64Kb | 32Kb external | Arcade Turbo
Bull0369 Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Can you get Jester to turn off his radar - I thought you could but now I dunno know.
viper2097 Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 He can go silent, but he can't hook up on a datalink target IIRC. The idea is nice, but I'm not sure if the Cat is the right boat for that. Sounds more like a Su27/33 with their IRST... Steam user - Youtube I am for quality over quantity in DCS modules

I don't actually need him to hook up a datalinked target, I just need to see them on the TID without the radar emitting and giving away my presence. Yeah Im aware that the Sukhois do it best, but I would still like to mix give it a try in my favorite bird ;) Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.
