Captain Orso Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 Both the Mk-20 Rockeye and the Mk-82 Snakeye weigh nearly the same. In fact the Rockeye weighs less by about 10 lbs. Yet, on pylons 3 and 5 you can mount 3x Rockeye OR 3x Snakeye, but on pylons 2 and 6 you can mount 3x Snakeyes, but only 2x Rockeye - 3x is not an option. Why? Apropos Rockeyes and loadouts, both 2x and 3x Rockeye always has the name Rockeye next to the selection in the loadout editor. Only by single Mk-20's the name is missing. It's there for Snakeye and AIR. Also in general in the loudout editor pull-down menus, 2x is above 3x, with 1x being at the bottom. It would be more consistent and a little easier to use, if it were 3x, 2x, 1x or the other way around. When you hit the wrong button on take-off System Specs. Marsvinet Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 Aren't rockeyes quite a bit wider than Mk-82s? I guess that it is a space problem rather than weight since the space between all pylons is not the same.
Captain Orso Posted March 21, 2019 Author Posted March 21, 2019 Yeah, by 2.5 inches :noexpression: When you hit the wrong button on take-off System Specs. Marsvinet Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 I just looked at it ingame. Seems there is a space problem relating to the wing strut gears. There is very little clearance between a possible Mk-20 and the strut. Don't take this as truth, it is just what I can see. The NAVAIR manual can probably back this up too.
