Ok, I tested it, and it indeed filters out target speeds higher than 1200kts, but in reference to the ground. That's not clear in the manual.

 

One more thing I noticed during test is that in NOSE and TAIL aspect settings, supersearch is broken and you cannot lock target anymore by placing cursor over it and pressing hcu full-action button.

 

It can't found target in supersearch that in NOSE and tail aspect setting. It can't got STT onto a hooked TID target when it above 1200 kts.

Not a radar expert but it looks like a bug to me. It makes more sense that the filter works with relative speeds since it's the direct info that the Doppler shift provides.

The RWS / TWS doppler filter filters out things moving +/- 120 kts relative to the nose of your aircraft, not +/- 1200. The F-15 radar has this modeled as well, but the range is smaller... about +/- 70 kts. Have not tested on the F-18, but it should be very close to the F-15's range
