SolUniverse Posted March 25, 2019 Posted March 25, 2019 Can someone explain to me how the Saved Games\DCS.openbeta folder works? What you put in there does that superseded anything the is in main install folder? Im trying to setup all mods to be installed into this directory but it seems DCS wont use certain folders and/or needs a custom file structure. Is it possible to use the Saved Games\DCS.openbeta for all mods/liveries/cockpit skins/sounds? or should I just use ovgme and put everything in main install folder..

Rudel_chw Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 Can someone explain to me how the Saved Games\DCS.openbeta folder works? Here is a good explanation, from one of ED's testers: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=190778 What you put in there does that superseded anything the is in main install folder? Not really ... I've found that you can use /Saved Games/ to ADD things to the game: add new liveries, new custom cockpits, new aircrafts, new ships, etc. You can't use it to REPLACE things of the game, for example you cant put there new ground textures for a Map, as the game will still use the ones it has on its program folder. Is it possible to use the Saved Games\DCS.openbeta for all mods/liveries/cockpit skins/sounds? Not for all ... I use saved games for Mods that add to the game ... all other Mods have to be installed on the Program Files DCS path. or should I just use ovgme and put everything in main install folder.. That is an option .. tough after every game update you would need to re-apply everything, and it can thus take a little while. On my case, I have most Mods on my Saved Games and only a few on Program Files, tough I use OvGME anyway for both cases, as sometimes I want to run DCS completely Mod-free, for example when I'm searching for the cause of a crash. OvGME allows for this by using "configs", like this: Best regards For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
