  1. The Autopilot is engaged by pressing the AP pushbutton, while holding the AP Disconnect trigger depressed on the Flight Stick (to avoid any unwanted action of any AP previous mode). As soon as the red “P” pushbutton light illuminates, you may release the AP disconnect trigger and then the AP will engage in Basic Mode and the green “A” light will illuminate to confirm AP engagement.
  2. the interview was probably taken 1-2 weeks before it’s published date.
  3. At 90° bank the HUD oscilates between its upright and its downside position, this is somewhat normal and you can avoid it by banking just a little less than 90°. If you pull the stick back while doing a turn, you begin to pull-g and in that case the aircraft begins to lose speed. Fix by increasing throttle or reducing the g-load.
  4. Probably only an ED developer can answer that, I can only assume that if it were easy to do then they would have already done so. The names shown are the default, I don't rename the luas, as for me it is simpler to just open the old lua using notepad++, Ctrl+A to select all, then Ctrl+C. Next close the file and open the new lua, if there is no new lua then you need to enter DCS and bind any command, any will do, as this will create the new DIFF.LUA file. When I have the new LUA open, do Ctrl+A to select all its current content, then Ctrl+V to paste the old content. Now save the file and voila. Note that only "joystick" files need this, the keyboard, Mouse, and TrackIR sections don't need it as they don't use the USB IDs. Actually, I'm a big believer on backups, and for DCS I have opted to place the most important configuration folders on a Cloud drive that supports file versioning. On the next image: All the folders with a small arrow on its corner is actually not there, on /Saved Games/ but instead it is on my Cloud drive. So, whenever I'm for example editing a Mission, I can restore any prior save of it, like this: Anyway, I hope that you now have a broader perspective on how DCS stores all the bindings one makes On my case, I find DCS to have the most flexible and comprehensive command binding abilities of any Sim that I've ever used. Best regards, Eduardo
  5. Hello, Nothing is really impossible, but it would for sure need a serious redesign on how DCS interacts with the Sim peripherals that the users may have. back on those golden and simpler times, the average Sim user had a joystick and that was it .. in fact it probably wasn't even a USB joystick, but one that connected to the joystick port of your PC, which could handle a maximum of two devices using a Y adapter. I may be wrong, but I believe the reason is flexibility: you can connect a staggering amount of Sim peripherals to your DCS, not just the vanilla HOTAS and Rudders, but also Cougar MFDs, a HUD, button boxes, an UFC, etc etc Currently DCS uses the USB ID that Windows assign to each device, to identify and distinguish between them ... probably this is because the peripherals themselves don't have a standardized built-in ID that DCS could use. I must admit that this puzzles me a bit, as it has not happened to me ... I connect my HOTAS and rudder on whatever USB port I have free on my PC, and Windows does not change the USB ID that it has assigned to them. Maybe some sim peripherals are not so well-behaved as my Thrustmaster and Virpil gear. To me, the only times the USB ID's of my gear change, is when I reinstall Windows. For example here you can see the dates when my Windows has changed the USB ID of my Hotas and Rudder: If the ID changed whenever I unplug-replug my gear, I would have a much larger quantity of these files. On the times when the ID has changed, I solve the issue by copying the CONTENTS of the old DIFF.LUA file onto the new one, as I find it easier than renaming the files ... is not such a nuisance since it happens seldom.
  6. I’m always amazed at how so many users can fly DCS only as a reproduction of historic events, and need a historic map and historic AI units in order to fly and enjoy a new aircraft module. On my case, I like DCS mostly to experience and learn to fly a given aircraft, I have no problem with a fictional scenario, say a La-7 flying on the Normandy map on 1944, Ijust imagine a coop program between the allies, where in exchange for some US units sent to the URSS, a squadron of La-7 gets to participate on the D-day. Limiting oneself to only historic re-enactments is … well, limiting
  7. Thanks a lot for the status update, I will simply fly the Viggen while I wait for the Phantom, no worries here as your quality level is worth waiting for. Greetings from Chile
  8. Hi, On my case I find that the reflections are a bit overdone, particularly on the instruments faces ... but I have not seen the black screen that some have mentioned ... here is a video I took today:
  9. I fail to see how that would be a "money grab" ... perhaps you should change Sim, there are some free ones available.
  10. Perhaps you should have, that way maybe you wouldn't have talked nonsense about "ED trapping your purchases" I started to play DCS on Steam, back on 2013, but moved to stand-alone after I realized its advantages (for me). I have absolutely no problem moving between Steam and Stand-alone, just a small update of my ED profile and I can go back to Steam whenever I want ... how is that "trapping" me?, I don't know, perhaps you could elaborate. Of course it was better to move between my install without having to do anything at all, but you will have to thank the dishonest users that "lent" their Steam accounts while they played on Stand-alone, that such simple life is not possible anymore. Same for the free-trials, where those same dishonest users created duplicate ED user accounts just so they could free-play for much longer periods of time .. it forced upon us the 2FA ... that one is really an inconvenience, and I opted to not use free-trials anymore, and I have to thank the dishonest users for that: thank you guys, hope your PCs will heat-melt.
  11. I look forward to flying this aircraft, as my last WW2 bird (the Mosquito) was two years ago, on 2021.
  12. Thanks a lot for the tip, but I'm still wary of Windows 11 and so I will stick to Windows 10 for as long as I can Edit: and a quick search shows I'm not alone on this matter: https://www.windowscentral.com/software-apps/windows-11/windows-10-still-has-more-than-double-the-market-share-of-windows-11-and-that-doesnt-look-like-it-will-change-any-time-soon#:~:text=Windows 11 launched in 2021,market share of Windows 10.
  13. But not new, both the C-101 and the Mirage F1 have been showing the GPU for years
  14. OK, if the repair didnt work then the issue may be caused by something within your saved games folder. Try the following: rename the folder "C:\Users\Jude Kirby\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta", to DCS.openbeta.bak Does DCS starts now? It will probably ask you for your ED account credentials. If it starts, it will create a new default DCS.openbeta folder, exit DCS and then copy from the .bak folder the following items: \Config \MissionEditor restart DCS, does it still works? If yes, you can copy back from the .bak folder the items: \Missions \Liveries \Missions and \Scripts ... do not copy back the \Mods folder, as it probably contains the cause of the issue.
  15. I re-read my post and cant see where I said that I expect it to happen, just that it is a pity that it doesn't reach the ocean.
  16. The Stable and the Openbeta branches were unified about a month ago. To avoid backward compatibility issues, the folder names on existing DCS installtions were preserved, so on your disk it may be called Openbeta, but it is actually the same version as Stable.
  17. Nevada is about half the width of the Syria map, it doesn’t seem like such a large stretch to make it into a similar width as Syria.
  18. just set the trigger to SWITCHED CONDITION, instead of ONCE. The first time the unit enters the zone, the trigger action will be activated, because the previous check of the trigger conditions was evaluated as false (unit was not in zone). The trigger will not activate any longer as long as the unit is inside the zone, because the previous check of the trigger conditions will be evaluated as true (unit remains inside zone). However, if the unit exists the zone and then re-enters it again, the conditions will have once again switched from false to true and the trigger action will be activated.
  19. 1) FR 22 MAIN RADIO The Viggen's Main radio is a UHF/VHF unit with the following frequency range: VHF, 103,000 – 159,975 MHz (25 kHz channel separation) UHF, 225,000 – 399,95 MHz (50 kHz channel separation) However, when contacting airbases it can communicate using unrealistic frequencies outside of these ranges, for example, at Nevada we have these Airbases: AFB Nellis uses the Base Preset 03, which has 4 frequencies: A: 327 MHz AM B: 132.5 MHz AM C : 3.9 MHz C2: 38.7 MHz On the real swedish Airbases, they have pre-defined frequencies for the different airbase services, like this: A = Tower, B = Precision Approach (PAR), C = Civilian Area Control, C2 = Military Area Control, D = Meteorology Office. Of course, IRL all these services operate on the VHF or UHF bands. On the Viggen Module only A, B, C and C2 are simulated, but of course all communicate with the same standard DCS ATC. However, this does not mean that the radio should be able to operate outside its frequency range, so for Nellis for example, only A and B should work, while C and C2 should not. At the moment, my Viggen can happily communicate using 03-C and 03-C2, which kills immersion. Hopefully, it is not something too difficult to fix ... and please take the opportunity to change the default manual frequency, as 123.456 MHz is not a valid frequency either, setting it to say 103.000 MHz shouldn't be hard. 2. FR24 BACKUP RADIO The Mission Editor does not validate the preset frequencies that one can enter, this allows us to set FR24 frequencies outside of its normal range, which is: VHF, 110,00 – 147,00 MHz (50 kHz channel separation) In fact, the FR24 is quite happy to operate using UHF frequencies, in spite of it being a VHF only unit on real life. On the positive side, the radio output power does seem to be nicely simulated, giving the FR 24 a much shorter range than the FR 22. Tested with no user mods active, on the Nevada map, where I'm editing some missions for the Viggen when I noticed these small radio innacuracies. Best regards, Eduardo
  20. Nah, its just that ED tends to always use the same date ranges for their sales I enjoy the Nevada map a lot, I do almost all of my training on new aircraft there, pity that it doesn't reach the Pacific coast ... it limits a bit the training that one can have there. Syria is another of my favorite maps, I prefer it over Persian Gulf for example Cheers!
  21. Hi, Just wanted to share this interview here, as it was extremely interesting and touches on a lot of Heatblur-related items and projects: https://www.gamepressure.com/editorials/experts-in-realism-household-name-synonymous-with-quality-convers/zb6e0
  22. Hello all, Just wanted to bring attention to the latest version of this Mod, v1.2, released just a few days ago, you can get it here: https://github.com/BAAS-Dynamic/DCS-SK60-Mod/releases it looks really nice, wish there were a way to have it spawn with the ladder and chocks already in place. Eduardo
  23. Hi, thanks a lot for the kind words. thanks for the heads-up, didnt knew that the Sk-60 had a new version, will check it tonight Yes, I can imagine that the Mod developer didn’t want users getting confused when the mission’s didn’t load because they have not installed the range Mod. Pity that DCS does not have those objects built-in
  24. I really love videos without a cheesy rock/epic soundtrack, nothing beats actual aircraft sounds and noises:
