Ever wanted to fly formation with the British Red Arrows?

Well i've set up a mission for FC to do just that.

 

You'll need 2 things (well 3 if you don't have Modman)

It's basically a 4 ship formation in echelon starboard flying a track around and over the runway for 54 minutes.

 

There are some long straight and level flight patterns to make it easier for the new pilots to form up onto, but be warned the turns are pretty sharp for the experienced pilots out there.

Name tags are left on so it's easier to find the formation.

Press ctrl+backspace to show the clock/fps to make it easier to follow the mission times.

Collision is set to off, weather is good with some cloud at higher level, turbulence is set to off.

 

Flight Breakdown:

09:00

RED1 to 4 are already airbourne flying over the runway at 4500ft, 250knts. You are on the runway, engines up ready to take off.

Set flaps and brakes, power to 90%, release breaks and nose lift at 150knts, gear up, flaps up. Climb to 4500, adjust power until you come in close to the formation at 12 o'clock ahead of you, power down and form up on the formation.

Fly over waypoint 2, get ready for a tight right turn

WP3 tight right turn, straight flight for 4 minutes, get ready for a tight right turn

WP4 tight right turn, straight flight for 10 minutes, get ready for a softer right turn

WP5 softer right turn, straight flight for 2 minutes, get ready for softer right turn

WP6 softer right turn, straight flight for 4 minutes, get ready for a tight right turn for a runway pass

WP7 tight right turn to line up for show centre pass, straight flight for 11 minutes passing show centre (look for beacons to guide you in), get ready for tight right turn

WP12 tight right turn, formation splits, slowing down, desceding flight level to land for 2 minutes. Watch for the formation to know their position. Gear down, flaps down around second marker out speed around 180knts. Check gear, flaps and speed at first marker out, check your glide path, Watch for the formation to know their position, land, power set idle, wheel brakes on to speed 20, flaps up, speed brake in (if you have used it), taxi to parking area.

You may have to go around if your glide path is not clear (formation is in the way) - power set 90%, gear up, flaps up, straight level flight over the runway to 1st marker, left turn 180 degrees, come level with 2nd marker out at opposite end of the runway, left turn 180 degrees, power down to speed 180knts (use speed brake if necessary), carry out landing procedure as above

 

To run the mission, open LOMAC, click on Missions and open the file, then click FLY.

 

A White smoke pod has been installed, press I when flying to turn smoke on and off.
