Use Lock On Pylon Editor (LOPE) - it allows you to alter all the aircraft loads very easily. Easy to install and I'm pretty sure its available on all the usual download sites.

I am using version 1.01 and it works fine. Not aware of a newer version. Should have pointed out if you are flying the F15, which is configured as a fighter in the sim, and you add bombs etc it will show the loadout but you will not be able to drop them - there is no mechanism (F7 key) in the F15 to allow you to do that - but it will drop bombs etc if you leave it as an AI aircraft. I do not think there is any way around that problem other than making it AI, but that does work and it looks okay.

You have to change the names in the MeInit file and in the ePlane file (Although the second bit is not really required - it just changes the data in the Encyclopedia I believe and you can live without that)

Be warned though, if you do something wrong in the MeInit file it will not load the game, and it is a HUGE file. A tiny mistake, miss a full stop, or a >, or something in the wrong place and its' crash and burn time. Back up the original MeInit file first and put it somewhere safe, then play around with it. Find the main section dealing with the aircraft you want to change, its the bit that tells you if it has a human cockpit etc - simply change the name in the ""Su-27"" bit to whatever you want it to be. If it does not work simply replace the corrupted Me Init file with your Original copy, or keep playing around till you find the bit that does what you want and it works.

It works for ships etc too, I have changed the Russian Carrier into the Indian Navy version, changesd it's name etc, and to add to that I changed the texture files as well, so it looks right in the sim.

Once you understand where everything is in the MeInit file and what it does you can do almost anything to the sim, change the name of countries, change who fly's what, but some data is hard coded and there is no way to get at it to change that data, so it has certain restrictions.

I learned by trial and error, just be sure to have a couple of copies of the Original MeInit to fall back on when it all goes to Ratshit !!!!! I keep 3 in different places - still learning !!!!!

Ok thanks for that. I also tried adding the KH-25ML and the KH-29L to the SU-27 in the pylon editor and then I saved it but It wouldnt let me add it because those weapons just dissappeared from the list.

If that aircraft has no designation for say Anti Ship missions I do not think it will fire the missile even if you can load it, that's something else you have to change, or add to it in the MeInit.

You can get around the loadout problem by going into the Mission Editor, picking the Aircraft you want and allocating a default loadout, then go into that Pylon by Pylon and and replace the weapon for the one you want. As long as you have made and saved the change in LOPE that weapon should show up under that pylon, you just delete the default weapon and replace it with the one you want. I think you have to call it a NEW loadout somewhere in that process but it's not too difficult once you get the hang of it.

So, if it already has say Pinpoint Strike allocated in the Mission Editor it should allow you to add a different type of bomb, and drop them correctly, but if you want to attack ships and it does not already have the Anti Ship capacity you have to make that change in the MeInit first.

It gets complicated when you want to do that sort of stuff and screwing up the MeInit a few times is almost inevitable. Keep going, there is a lot to learn and it takes time. Think of it this way, If the Mig-29S can do something and I want the Su-27 to do that as well, look at how the Mig-29S is configured in the MeInit and copy the data to the Su-27.

Ok so ive changed the name but now in the mission editor I cant see the model of the SU-27 or when i change the colour schemes.

That suggests you made a mistake somewhere in the MeInit. Find an original copy and start again.

Each aircraft has a specific area that relates to that aircraft only, but the text in the MeInit file runs line upon line with no gaps and its very easy to do something in the wrong place - This is the line you are looking for - the Su-27 is between the A10A and the Mig29A.

<Plane CLSID="{6FFE10D7-723E-46B0-AB8F-71B8B3D7572B}" Cannon="yes" EmptyWeight="16000" HumanCockpit="yes" MaxFuelWeight="9400" MaxHeight="18500" MaxSpeed="2498.4" MaxTakeOffWeight="30000" Name="Su-27" Rate="50" WingSpan="14.7" WorldID="3">

I'm pretty sure if you change the name "Su-27" in this line it will still load the correct aircraft and all you are doing is changing it's name to something else.

Never changed an aircraft name in this way myself but the same principal works for ships etc, it should work if you do it right.

Found this for the SU-27:

<Plane Name="Su-27" WorldID="3" CLSID="{6FFE10D7-723E-46B0-AB8F-71B8B3D7572B}" HumanCockpit="yes" EmptyWeight="16000" MaxTakeOffWeight="30000" MaxFuelWeight="9400" WingSpan="14.7" MaxHeight="18500" MaxSpeed="2498.4" Cannon="yes" Rate="50">

That seems to suggest you are running a different version of the game from me - I have Lomac with Flaming Cliffs add on - UK CD version.

That seems to be the right line though, even if it is from a different or earlier version - the CLSID data in the brackets is the same as mine and thats the important bit. Try changing the "Su-27" bit in that line - see if that works.

If not I'm not sure what to try next if that does not work, it might be something to do with the differences in the versions.
