Restore functionality to show HUD movable reticle (pipper) for TCS in STT modes.

I have to ask..... Restore functionality to show HUD movable reticle (pipper) for TCS in STT modes (hiding HUD steering tee implicitly)

...was included in latest patch. This returns behavior to how we saw it in pre-release vids, but why? Has new information come to light?

It always seemed logical to me that the movable piper wouldn't be displayed when the TCS was slaved to radar, but now it is again. Also we've lost the steering T from the HUD, by design it seems. I remember there was some discussion on this post-release, and devs seemed unsure.

Will the steering T in HUD show in any mode now? I've been playing and can't seem to make it appear.

Did you ever get a response or answer to this question? I would have though it would be relatively easy for Heatblur to answer.

I've changed my mind on this. I think HB have it modeled the most logical way now.

You can restore the HUD steering T in all modes by setting the TCS slave option to 'Independent' and the acquisition to 'Man'. This way you get a HUD steering T. You lose TCS ID obviously, but in the real world you can use crew coordination to change/update the TCS options as you wish, according to the most sensible use of TCS/HUD indications.

I'm not sure if this is correct, but it works. I'd like to know what the real world technique / SOP was for TCS slaving options etc.

Thanks very much for the reply, it makes much more sense to me now you’ve explained the likely thinking behind the change.
