How to adjust HMD response

I have a thrustmaster Warthog and am using it in DCS F/A 18. When I use the view hat to slew the HMD I get really jerky responses and wanted to set the response to the control input a little lower. I downloaded the Thrustmaster Target software and got nowhere. Anyone know how or wkere I can access the joystick response curves and have any suggestions as to how I might get a little more smooth response from the HMD?

what exactly is the view hat? i use the big grey slider on the thrust controller for zooming, it works like a charm if you don't mess with the background lights.
