Worrazen Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 (edited) Sorry I don't know much about VR in DCS and maybe this is already possible. So I had the temptation to look up on Track IR, and maybe get it somewhere in the next 6 months, hoping a new version gets released, but the initial ethusiasm has normalized now after seeing the company behind it appears to have been historically deceptive. So I was waging the downsides of Track IR at high angles, and other things, I hope v5 isn't that as what I have come across, so after a bunch of thinking I clicked the obvious, why not support an option where DCS would use the integrated sensors in VR devices and use it for non-VR mode. That means potentially a lot of the people with VR wouldn't need Track IR anymore if they could handle a separate helmet or something on their head like an extension hat, setting the Z offset in software to fix the discrepancy. Maybe sell it to fellow DCS pilots who can't afford/interested in full VR. Those who don't like VR's low resolution, or have the budget for a new headset (toldya it could be just around the corner, months ago) could simply strip out the sensors off the old ones and that be a lot easier to only have sensors strapped to a hat without much of Z offset, but that adjustment should still be there, I mean, that offset adjustment stuff could probably already come with the base VR driver software outside of DCS anyway, I would expect, so I don't see how this could be hard to implement in DCS and then work in practice. You could strap it on the back of your head, and pull the back strap that would cover the eyes somewhere else, there's more ideas, I don't have more since I haven't used once, but with some improvisation it surely could be done without being annoying too much. You could tether a few helium baloons on the headset too to make it lighter. Edited April 21, 2019 by Worrazen Modules: A-10C I/II, F/A-18C, Mig-21Bis, M-2000C, AJS-37, Spitfire LF Mk.
