I've asked on their forum, if it's possible to upgrade from the old to the new, for those who ordered after todays restock.

 

Don't think it's really fair that they didn't mention we were getting the older one on the order page, they simply have the reduced price. I think it should be made very clear that there are two versions and which one is being ordered - not somewhere else, on a forum - especially as most people will be getting up and mashing F5 and not have time to go looking around for last minute changes to products. Give the customer the choice.

 

OK - I've asked if I can upgrade to the "Mk.2" - see what the response is.

 

The V2 throttle is the current iternation of the design, the new V3 throttle has the mini-stick

 

 

V1 throttle release July 2018 - has 4 way hat swtiches (has detent)

 

V2 throttle release Feb 2019 - has 4 way hat switches + Push (has detent)

 

V3 throttle release July 2019 - has 4 way har switches + push and now analog mini-stick (no detent)

Attached you see my pre-order status. I also asked via vpc-support to get some clarification^^

 

Looking at that, you're getting the current version - the order date is March 2019 and you paid the full price for it (i.e. before they reduced it, today).

 

I'd like to have the latest one, that's due in July, but I won't complain if I don't get it. At the end of the day, I did order the one that I'm getting and not the latest design - that I didn't know about it is not an excuse or reason to think anything is underhand - I just would prefer the new one.

I definitely see it the same way only the following makes me wonder..

I think the only way you will find out is to open a ticket and ask.

 

I just got a response offering to refund my current throttle order and I'll have to order the new one, once it's available

It took a few hours until I got a reply - I had forgotten to put my order number in the ticket, though. Still a fast response.

 

Anyway, I just got my refund from Paypal. Must admit, I was sorely tempted to just take the current throttle, but wth - can use my X56 throttle until July (if I manage to get an order in on the first stock of throttles) and I'll just leave the refund cash on Paypal to use for that purchase, adding another 60 Euro.

 

See, I can't believe that the only difference is adding an analogue mini-stick, because there's no way they would add 60 Euro just for that - they must have done more to it. The post on their forum isn't that clear about what they added or changed. Detentes gone and mini-stick added is about all that's obvious.

 

Maybe I'm just getting too dopey in my old age...

The grip handles on the VPC MongoosT-50CM Throttle have been completely redesigned to offer unparalleled functionality.

 

Now that is more like it - sounds a fair increase to me ;)

Yeah, the whole thing now is atracting me. The form, the wheel on the side, the slider replacing the wheel and the switch on the outer side and once again the form :) Then this unparelling sounds like a real technical advantage to me.

I just went through my payment, refund and the new throttle costs.

 

The T50CM throttle is going to cost about £400 - and that's assuming there aren't any sudden currency changes due to the mess that is Brexit, plus shipping.

 

I just got £310 refunded, which softens the blow - but the cost of the CM over the current throttle adds up to over £100. That's a lot.

 

I'm glad I only just worked it out, because had I known that, I would probably have stuck with my order of the current hardware. But when I look at the gorgeousness that is the CM, I just get very excited! Even with all that reconfigging that will need to be done on all my DCS profiles.

Hay! Meanwhile Virpil confirmed via support-ticket that I will get the new Throttle (V3) and they try to get it shipped in the original 90-days-timeframe. So this puts some balm to my (impatient) feelings :joystick:

At least I get my T50CM2 stick & base hopefully soon - don't know how long it takes to get here, but I think I will enjoy doing the new profiles for it. Got to make some decent blank diagrams for the assignment cards first. I'll post some blank ones in this forum when I get them done, so anyone can use them.

 

Might be a bit cramped, due to the amount of buttons available - no idea how I am going to make one for the throttle. :huh:

Just got the despatch note this evening. Chuffed to rocks :D

 

I'll report back when it arrives so anyone in the UK curious about delivery times will have something to go on for the current state of affairs.

 

I'm happy to wait a while - if it takes a couple of weeks, that's fine.

I see the current throttle is now out of stock - so some were either not concerned about the improvements, needed the lower price or just didn't want to do without the detentes.

 

Future stock should be the CM only. I've put the cash aside...

Arrived half an hour ago - all I can say is W_O_W!!! :D

 

I still haven't stopped smiling!

 

Here's the comparision to my X56 stick - which seems to need dusting yet again!

 

 

It looks huge - but actually it only just fits my large hand at max adjustment. Funnily enough, the X56 feels bigger when handling.

 

 

Now I need to work out all my reassignments. I can think of worse ways to spend a weekend :)

 

It's very stiff out of the box and the centre detente is quite clunky - so I think I'll be swapping the cams for the no centre option. Been reading up on the hard and software over the last 2 weeks and can't wait to get stuck in.

 

Hoping to get in quick and order the desk mounting after the restock in about 102 minutes!
