It's a known issue that complex pathfinding (when moving units over long distances in CA) can freeze a server. It seems as if the pathfinding is currently done in the main thread.

If this is the case, are there plans to change this in the near future? I would love to see stuff like pathfinding (which isn't time critical) to be moved into a separate thread entirely and leave the important time critical stuff in the main thread.

It's also no problem if a unit takes 10 seconds to calculate a route. No human being is able to know a complex route within a split second anyway. This would even enhance CAs realism in DCS.

Just an idea

Cheers!

Also if they are going to work on this have them fix the path finding period. Vehicles still get stuck on buildings. Pathfinding process should be a priority.

I was in Art of the Kill D#@ it!!!!

Do you have some example?

Maybe an idea could be to calculate the way not in an unique moment with a unique task but during the way, triggering something... I don't know...

But this issue is very very very bad, and you can reproduce it easyly in a supercomputer. It's a mess, also flying in close or weather formation raise high the risk.

So issue not yet solved.

+1. One of my biggest wishes for DCS is to see vehicles that don't get stuck in buildings so missions with these doesn't always have to be done outside of populated areas or having to stop them from moving.

if you play multiplayer with a complex ground war being completed that is player controlled you would know that this is a huge problem and not ask for an example. Its been a problem for years, thankfully the ending is (fingers crossed) insight with multi threading coming this year.

Huge lag freezes occur and or crashes stemming from two primary problems, people that a) dont know what there doing in Tac Command b) playing with malicious intent.
