it looks like the sun goes through the fuselage to light the interior of the engines. in some conditions this is pretty noticeable and doesnt look right, see attachement. Havent tried fiddling with my shadow settings yet (set to flat only).

Thats a DCS shadows issue. Putting them to Low or higher will fix this.

Well...F110 isn't a no-bypass engine...and you can see the entire fan from the front of the f14.

 

I imagine if you put enough light down the intake by flying into the sun at least a little light would come out the other side.

 

You can see straight through higher bypass engines like on airliners alot of the time.

 

Maybe it's a feature lol.
