Performance increase with another SSD?

Hi Folks,

I have DCS world stored on an SSD and my OS on a hybrid hdd/ssd.

When DCS is running does it need to interigate the metashders/fxo file etc. in the savegames folder?

I'm using Oculus vr. Does DCS need to get files from the Oculus file that is stored in program files when its running?

I'm trying to do everything I can to reduce/eliminate stutters and pauses.

Will I see any performance improvement in DCS if I get another ssd for my os?

Many thanks.

I'd always put the OS onto an SSD first. With the Saved Games folder residing there, and the shaders accessed from that location, accessing that will at least be slightly quicker.

As to overall stuttering, I think there are far more factors than just the drive read speeds.

Depends, with Rift VR and 32GB of RAM accessing the drive after game has loaded either MP or SP doesn't really happen. There is some very low level write activity but nothing major.

This may also depend on your GPU as well.

Certainly putting your OS and DCS on an SSD either M.2 or SATA will help load times significantly.

Remember if you do upgrade either disk or RAM to go through the DRM processes for all your StarForce protected modules.

Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment.

Gazelle Mini-gun version is endorphins with rotors. See above.

Currently rolling with a Asus Z390 Prime, 9600K, 32GB RAM, SSD, 2080Ti and Windows 10Pro, Rift CV1. bu0836x and Scratch Built Pedals, Collective and Cyclic.

Thanks for your input guys.

I think Ive decided a new ssd for os is not going to help much on my new build.

Will wait to see what the vr improvements brings.

Thanks again.
