viper2097 Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Flying with the Tomcat will let you find out quite fast that it is important to fix the INS regulary, especially when flying with Datalink on. As a Tacan Navfix is really easy to do, could you please add Jester the ability to do it? The FP must be set up by Human (either ME or Map) and also the Tacan Station can be told to him. So it would only be missing that I could command him to do a Navfix, he could ask if the Delta readout sounds good then apply eat. I know, it sounds always so much easier then it is, but I think that this could be done "quite easy" and would bring a lot of effort for flying the cat alone... QuiGon Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Haven't flown with Jester myself, so I wonder if Jester is able to do other types of Navfixes already? Because if not, I would guess the ability to perform Navfixes is one that will be added to Jester later on (like LANTIRN). Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
viper2097 Posted May 7, 2019 Author Posted May 7, 2019 Unfortunately, he can't do any navfix yet. Regarding the importance of a navfix, and the quite easy way of doing a Tacan navfix, this would be great to see implemented soon. Steam user - Youtube I am for quality over quantity in DCS modules
QuiGon Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Oh, so this is not a bug, but a feature wish. Well, I guess there are things with higher importance that need to get implemented first (e.lg. Jester LANTIRN capability), but eventually they will implement the ability for Jester to perform fixes and not just TACAN fixes. A visual fix would actually be even easier to implement for Jester as you just have to tell Jester to perform a fix when you are overhead the FP. viper2097 Posted May 7, 2019 Author Posted May 7, 2019 Yes, you`re right, its not a bug, its a feature request. Feels kinda wrong sub now for that, sorry, maybe a Mod can move it. However, I can`t imagine that it would be a big deal to implement: Input a Waypoint (ST) and select it -> Jester can do that already Dial in a Tacan Station -> Jester can do that already Push a button on the CAP -> New Ask the Pilot if the Delta readout seems good for him -> New Push a second button -> New Done Sounds for me like a job that could be done in one shift and the benefit would be really high. I prefer the Tacan fix as it is more precise then the optical fix. However, I`m sure that Lantirn integration seems to be more on the priority list but that will also take really many more hours... QuiGon Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 I prefer the Tacan fix as it is more precise then the optical fix. Not necessarily. The precision of the TACAN fix depends on the distance to the TACAN station and the magnetic variation. A visual fix at low level can be more precise. Pikey Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Not having much luck with visual fixes. The blue stuff underneath keeps moving :( ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *

The visual fixes work fine for me, as do other types of fixes.
