Good afternoon,

I'm getting random (but persistent) crashes at server selection stage.

If I can make it into a server, I can then play for hours. However if for any reason I go back to the role selection page, I will most probably encounter a crash.

I tried lots of things, including :

- uninstall/reinstall nvidia driver

- uninstall/reinstall DCS world (open Beta)

- setting pagefile as suggested in other topics

- uninstall/reinstall Oculus software

- disable XMP profile in BIOS

- uninstalled Asus GPU tweak and any other GPU monitoring software

- No crash in non-VR mode

I'm starting to loose hope...

Here is a log of last crash that happened at server selection.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I have yet to see my RAM utilization at 100% even in MP.

However, I finally found where my issue was coming from.

How I got there : after having tried pretty much everything I could think of I loaded default settings in BIOS and crashes just vanished.

So it turns out my CPU overclocking was causing the issue, despite being stable in Prime95 and Aida64 !

I just raised cpu VCore by 0.02V and i’m good to go know.

So hint for Overclockers out there : best stability test for your OC so far is the DCS server selection page in VR!

they all test different aspects of your system, some overlap, some do not.

Put IBT-v2 in your list of stresstest apps, it is very heavy on the DRAM part and not so much on the CPU if you compare it with Small FFt's in prime95 ( which hardly tests any RAM or IMC ).

I had to shake my head when I read this thread. Like almost or maybe all of the issues posted were home made OC errors.

A 9900k at 5G with 4000 on the RAM...very hard to achieve unless you run 2x8GB and still need some luck.

Overheating...a thing any prime95 should have shown prior to any DCS flight.

Guys, you can do better !:pilotfly:

Thanks BitMaster, I’ll check out IBT-v2.

Because it was stable once in game, I did not think that OC could be the issue.

I guess we learn every day!

I have to say that I’m still wondering what make the server selection stage that greedy on resources though!
