faulty transistion from sun to moon lighting

There are multiple problems with night lighting pointed out already, but there is one big issue, that i have not seen reported yet, while it should be relatively easy to fix.

 

 

The problem is, that when the sun is down, there is no moon lighting for several hours (!) even if the moon is already up.

 

 

So for several hours before sunrise and several hours after sunset the night is pitch black, although the moon is up.

It magically switches on/off at some point.

 

 

It's obvious that the moon should not affect lighting while the sun is still up, but from a technical standpoint it would be no problem to have the moon "on" and even casting shadows, as soon as the sun stops casting shadows (or vice versa).

 

 

It's basically a no brainer and basically every other game that features day/night cycles offers a plausible transition between sun and moon.

 

 

I think the common problem is just an oversight from the changes to PBR and new HDR, but it is really mind-boggling, that it has not yet been fixed.

 

 

Tested on Nevada (and Caucassus, if i remember correctly).

Yes, faulty sun to full moon lighting and

faulty full moon lighing to sun lighting

it's especially tragic, since in contrast to night lighting, dusk and dawn do already look very good.

however both dusk and dawn are not very practical for actual flying, because they are preceeded / followed by that pitch black nothing, that is the sun/moon transistion.
