key_stroked Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 I know that the Tape Player has a max of 10 music files. I backed up the default tracks, made 10 of my own in .ogg format, and put them in the same location. When I get in the pit and hit play, I hear the click but no music. If I delete my custom tracks and put the default tracks back in and click play in the sim, I hear the music. What am I doing wrong? Here's what my folder looks like.
hornblower793 Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Not as far as I know - this has been working for me (I will test post patch later). I do what you have stated, but also have placed each set of tracks in a sub folder in Walkman to make it easier to copy them back and forth Windows 11 Home ¦ Z790 AORUS Elite AX motherboard ¦ i7-13700K ¦ 64GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 memory @ 5600MHz ¦ Samsung 990 Pro 1TB SSD for OS, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB SSD for DCS ¦ MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming X Trio 24GB ¦ Virpil WarBRD base with VFX grip, Thrustmaster A10c and F/A-18 grips ¦ VKB Gunfighter Mk4 and MCG Pro ¦ Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle ¦ VKB STECS Throttle ¦ Virpil TCS rotor base with Shark and AH-64D grips ¦ MFG Crosswinds ¦ Total Controls Multi-Function Button Box ¦ Pimax Crystal
Rudel_chw Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 I used this online converter to convert my mp3 into ogg, no change of default settings except that you have to tick on "normalize audio" in order to play on dcs: http://audio.online-convert.com/convert-to-ogg For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
Strut Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Dont name them ".ogg", example Play01.ogg should be "Play01" but when converted and saved the file must be ".ogg". Thats how I got mine to work when I use OVGME. key_stroked Posted June 5, 2019 Author Posted June 5, 2019 you have to tick on "normalize audio" in order to play on dcs: What does normalize audio do? Did you try converting without that box checked?
hornblower793 Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 I haven't used the online solution - I downloaded and used freac (http://www.freac.org) - this worked without issue for me without having to adjust any settings Windows 11 Home ¦ Z790 AORUS Elite AX motherboard ¦ i7-13700K ¦ 64GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 memory @ 5600MHz ¦ Samsung 990 Pro 1TB SSD for OS, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB SSD for DCS ¦ MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming X Trio 24GB ¦ Virpil WarBRD base with VFX grip, Thrustmaster A10c and F/A-18 grips ¦ VKB Gunfighter Mk4 and MCG Pro ¦ Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle ¦ VKB STECS Throttle ¦ Virpil TCS rotor base with Shark and AH-64D grips ¦ MFG Crosswinds ¦ Total Controls Multi-Function Button Box ¦ Pimax Crystal
Rudel_chw Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 What does normalize audio do? No idea ... learned this trough trial-error For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
hornblower793 Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Assuming it is following the usual definition for normalizing audio it means the software adjusting the volume to reach a target level so all tracks play at around the same volume Windows 11 Home ¦ Z790 AORUS Elite AX motherboard ¦ i7-13700K ¦ 64GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 memory @ 5600MHz ¦ Samsung 990 Pro 1TB SSD for OS, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB SSD for DCS ¦ MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming X Trio 24GB ¦ Virpil WarBRD base with VFX grip, Thrustmaster A10c and F/A-18 grips ¦ VKB Gunfighter Mk4 and MCG Pro ¦ Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle ¦ VKB STECS Throttle ¦ Virpil TCS rotor base with Shark and AH-64D grips ¦ MFG Crosswinds ¦ Total Controls Multi-Function Button Box ¦ Pimax Crystal
PSYKOnz Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 What does normalize audio do? Did you try converting without that box checked? From an old radio jock/producer, I’m going to try not to over complicate this... Normalising takes the wave form and digitally amplifies it to a set dB normally -0 it does this while preserving the wave form (unlike compression) If you have ever been listening to music on your phone or Walkman ;) and one song is very quiet so you turn it up and the next song blows your head off because it’s so loud this is because those files weren’t normalised. Most normalisation is to -0 dB (generally anything above -0 dB is amplification anything below is Attenuation) most devices will be at -0 dB at there loudest and Attenuate the volume down. You should always normalise a file after working on it (or converting it). As you can imagine in a professional radio situation everything being all over the vu meters is not good. So the last step of literally every piece of production you do is to normalise to -0db TLDR: Essentially normalisation ensures consistency of volume across all files that have been normalised Hope that answered your question and didn’t leave you too confused. I tried to keep it as simple as possible Tomcat, Tomcat über allen
