Hi everyone. I need to know why sometimes the Irmav stay forever in standby and never pass to ready.

 

Any thoughts ?

Select the ir Mavs on with a/g selected and don't mess with them like don't turn on nav mode on or select a different weapon. Leave that on for a good long time until rdy replaces stby on your stores ddi

I have this issue sometimes as well. I’m convinced it’s a bug. But its random and I can not reproduce it. I always do my set up the same to get them ready. It will be bugged, I can hit L Shift R to restart the mission and they will work fine. I cant figure out what triggers it it happen.

For me, it works fine like that:

 

- On ground, in NAV mode > STRS page > select IRMV > !!! DO NOT SELECT ANY OTHER WEAPON AT THIS STAGE !!! > back to EHSD > IR Cool switch up on ACP (not sure if it's functionnal or not at this stage of developpment)

The short answer is, don't activate the IRMV's until shortly before you are going to use them and don't switch from the STRS page. This meand means don't start trying to ready them on the ground, nor right after start if you will be flying more than 5-10 minutes to your target area. There's no need for that, and it makes no sense.

 

That being said, whether in reality the IRMV's would go into a kind of limbo, because you switched out of the STRS page while cool-down was still in progress, I have no idea. I'm kind of guessing, that that would not make sense in reality. IIRC the cool-down includes a liquid nitrogen cartridge in the pylon feeding into the coolant system in the missile. I'm sure that is an electronics start-up going on as well and maybe a BIT, and I'm guessing that in an emergency if you had to switch to for example Sidewiders, that the IRMV's would not become unusable bc their activation process had not yet completed, when a different weapon was selected or the MFCD was stiched away from the STRS page.

 

So I'm guessing that on the one hand, IRMV's are being activated too early, but additionally there is a bug, that if you leave the STRS page, before the IRMV's are RDY, that they go into limbo.

 

I'm sure that if it gets fixed, we will still hear moans that IRMV's won't work after flying an hour and a half with them RDY the entire time too, so...
