The latest update seems to have affected some older module RWR indications. When certain "Search" or "Acquisition" radars are emitting, the A-10A, A-10C, F-15C, and F-5E display them as generic "S" symbols; up until now they were identified by their precise radar types. The affected radar systems are:

P-19 "Flat Face" radar, normally displayed as "FF"

Sborka "Dog Ear" mobile radar, normally displayed as "DE"

S-300PS 64H6E "Big Bird" radar, normally displayed as "BB"

S-300PS 5N66M "Clam Shell" radar, normally displayed as "CS"

All of these radar systems are now simply displayed as "S" in the A-10A, A-10C, F-15C and F-5E, as if they were EWR-type systems. The F-14, F/A-18 and AV-8B all still display these radars as FF, DE, BB, and CS. At first I thought it was maybe simulating "older" RWR equipment that couldn't display as many types, but then I noticed that it was only with DCS modules that are at least three years old, and the F-14's systems are way older than the A-10C and F-15C, so I figured this is probably a bug.

Yes, I understand that these radars can generally be described as "Search" radars, but getting hit by an EWR radar versus an S-300's "Big Bird" radar is a huge difference when assessing how it could impact your flight.

Tested in DCS Release 2.5.5.32533 (Non-Beta); did a manual update/repair check as well to make sure my install wasn't broke.

S stands for "Search radar"

As stated in my post, I understand the "S" = Search, however that doesn't equate to correct or accurate behavior. If that's the case, then logic would dictate that all the tracking radars would be changed to "T". That would be silly, since a S-300's tracking radar represents a whole other level of threat compared to a 2S6 Tunguska's. Just as displaying a S-300's search radar as an "S" represents a different level of threat than an early warning radar that is also displayed as an "S".

And for the record, it is not accurate behavior in western RWR displays to lump such radars all within the same "Search" symbol.
