Pyle298 Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 Hey, I'm really enjoying DCS and I have a question. I used to fly Chinooks and on NVG ops we had a liplight, a sort of 3 add on to the mic boom with 3 green leds to aid in map reading, instrument reading or other tasks. Now that I'm doing a lot of night flying in the A-10C I keep looking for that option. We also had the option to choose a finger light, a one led light you could put on your finger as well as a Ziplight, a small diamond shaped green ledlight you put on the sipper of the survival vest So is there such an option or is it maybe an idea to add it to make life a bit easier under goggles? Jan P.s. how many of you keep flipping up the WMR headset to read the instruments :smilewink:
ravenzino Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 The problem is when you put on NVG in VR, everything in cockpit but HUD get blurred, even if you set the cockpit lights to night mode... I certainly would appreciate if the cockpit part of NVG vision can be made clearer. For now, I have to set a HOTAS key for toggling NVG on and off, and constantly switch it in between... Sandman1330 Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 We have actually moved away from using lip lights. Feedback from guys on the ground is that, when landing blacked out, the lip light is extremely visible from long range, and makes a great target for the bad guys. We hang green or red headlamps from our vests now, lower and out of line of sight, for map reading, etc. But I know what you mean about trying to look under the VR headset to check the gauges, I do it all the time! Pyle298 Posted July 5, 2019 Author Posted July 5, 2019 Yeah you're right, yesterday I remembered we were not allowed to use the liplight in Afghanistan and Iraq, we used fingerlights and the guys in the back used the blue cabin lights. Its been almost 10 years since I last flew a Chinook so some details fade lol
