Kula66 Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 No, MICA does not have two-way datalink. Meteor might - I'm thinking it most likely does, based on the Swedes extensive experience with datalinks. I thought the recent shoot of a MICA at a following aircraft were tests of the 2-way data-link ...
Grimes Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Yep it fires at the first targets, then switches to the 2nd. Once you fire on the 2nd guy it switches back to the first. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. GGTharos Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 I think you misunderstand the meaning of two-way datalink. It means that the missile sends information back to the launcher, not just launcher to missile. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Geier Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 It means that the missile sends information back to the launcher, not just launcher to missile. Exactly:thumbup: Our VVS haven't got the simmilar missile yet:(
TucksonSonny Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 The AIM-120D is the only AAM that I know of that will feature a two-way datalink. The F-15 fire control radar contails look-up tables for the missile's DLZ and flight times under different launch conditions. Meteor has also a two-way datalink! Meteor will be 'network-enabled'. A two-way datalink will allow the launch aircraft to provide mid-course target updates or retargeting if required, including data from offboard third-parties. The datalink will be able to transmit missile information such as functional and kinematic status, information on multiple targets, and notification of target acquisition by the seeker. The two-way datalink is compatible with Eurofighter and Gripen but not with Rafale which is fitted with a one-way link originally designed for use with MICA. French missiles will be fitted with a different unit. The datalink electronics are mounted in the starboard intake fairing, ahead of the FAS. The antenna is mounted in the rear of the fairing. ;) DELL Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 940 2,93 GHz @3 GHz, 8 MB cache | 8.192 MB 1.067 MHz Tri Channel DDR3 | 512 MB ATI® Radeon™ 4850 | 500 GB 7200 rpm Serial ATA | Samsung SM 2693 HM 25.5 " | HOTAS Cougar Thrustmaster |
