Charley Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 When I try to log onto multiplayer servers in DCS, 99% of the time my DCS program gets hung up. The task manager shows that DCS is not responding. I am able to connect to a friend's server to fly in DCS though, without any trouble. The problem seems to be connecting to the multiplayer servers on DCS. Does anybody know what could be causing this problem & how to fix it?

Tippis Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 A common cause for MP hangs is simply the time it takes to download, load, and interpret the mission file, and getting all of that done before you get a server time-out. During that whole process, DCS is supremely unresponsive and will often be considered hung up by windows. It's not necessarily true — sometimes, it will actually recover once all the downloading and processing is done, but other times it just dies during the wait. Another issue, especially for more complex missions, is that even if you get past that first step, the mission might simply be asking you to juggle too many assets for your GPU and CPU to handle. MP missions tend to have a lot more going on — more units with more liveries and more activity in general — than SP missions, and all of that has to be prepped before you can start the mission. Sometimes, DCS fails gracefully and just kicks you back to the main menu; sometimes it does so ungracefully and sends you back to the desktop; and sometimes, it just hangs. ❧ ❧ Inside you are two wolves. One cannot land; the other shoots friendlies. You are a Goon. ❧ ❧
Charley Posted August 4, 2019 Author Posted August 4, 2019 Thanks for the responses. I'm wondering my computer isn't able to handle logging onto the multiplayer missions. It's an Intel i5 4670 cpu 3.40 ghz. 16 gb ram, Windows 7, 64 bit. I use a wireless router.
Sangusan Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 Post the DCS.log in your Saved games/dcs/logs folder. It should give some insight.
Charley Posted August 6, 2019 Author Posted August 6, 2019 I would like to post the log folder, but I must be missing something in how to attach it to my post. I click on the "manage attachments" button or the attachments icon in my message, but nothing happens. Anyway, the folder has many files like this: dcs.20180329-014746.crash & dcs.20180329-014746.dmp.
