Ryu8200 Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Not sure if it's a bug or user error but tonight my vihkrs stopped tracking properly and would sink into the ground fairly quickly off the rails and explode. What's puzzling are the following: 1: The vihkrs were working just fine earlier in the server 2: Had no laser overheat warnings the entire flight 3: Could get "TA" and "C" just like normal when firing the vihkrs 4: Thought maybe I hurt the laser even though no overheat alarm ever went off so I repaired 5: After repair issue was still there Any input gentlemen? Thanks in advance :helpsmilie:
chromium Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 check this: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=246318 Author of DSMC, mod to enable scenario persistency and save updated miz file Stable version & site: https://dsmcfordcs.wordpress.com/ Openbeta: https://github.com/Chromium18/DSMC The thing is, helicopters are different from planes. An airplane by it's nature wants to fly, and if not interfered with too strongly by unusual events or by a deliberately incompetent pilot, it will fly. A helicopter does not want to fly. It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces in opposition to each other, and if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance the helicopter stops flying; immediately and disastrously.
Ryu8200 Posted August 1, 2019 Author Posted August 1, 2019 check this: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=246318 Thanks for the info on how to repair the laser if I suspect it’s broken again. But the strange part is that I didn’t get any overheat warnings last night when other times if I’ve forgot to turn the laser off I get a warning on my left front panel.
Ryu8200 Posted August 1, 2019 Author Posted August 1, 2019 Are u getting Launch Authorization LA in HUD ?? Didn’t check for the letters “LA” in the HUD but I was getting “TA” and “C” in the skhval as well as “C” in the HUD
Grodlund Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 (edited) Definitly worn out laser. I don't know what a "laser overheat warning" is. I have never seen that. But this is exacly what happens when the laser is worn out. I have experienced that alot. But since I read up on proper laser management, it has never happened again (unless I overuse the laser in an emergancy situation) Proceedure: 1. Always, ALWAYS wait for the cooldown timer on your HUD to reach zero before re-lasing or firing another shot. 2. Switch you laser off untill you really need it for ranging or firing. Dont keep it on when scanning. 3. For even longer service life, hit the RESET button after a missile impact, and count down the reminding timer in your head, before re-lasing (as the laser stays on a couple of seconds after impact) If you use your laser smart, and only when needed, it will have a lot longer serivce life, than you can stay alert and fit for fight in the pit. Good luck Edited August 2, 2019 by Grodlund "Your pumping days are over, Megatron!" -Optimus Prime "This calls for a very special blend of psychology and extreme violence" -Vyvian
3WA Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Also check outside wind speeds. I remember one guy complaining about this, and we found out he was flying in a literal hurricane. Vikhers were blown away the minute they launched. But yeah, I agree with Grodlund, sounds like your laser is toast.
Fri13 Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 There is this mod that activated the temperature value on the HUD, or you can do it yourself https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2355691&postcount=7 If that works, you can use it to debug the problem is it your laser. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
Ryu8200 Posted August 7, 2019 Author Posted August 7, 2019 Thanks to everyone who replied. It was probably a user error on my behalf. And thanks for the heads up with the mods to track the laser temp. I’m gonna be implementing that one for sure
