_outcast_ Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 I am going to build a rig for flight sim and sim racing and I have ordered the Obutto R3evolution as the base. To this I want to add buttkickers, but I am unsure as to what the optimal buttkicker layout would be? I assume you need a lot less input for just flight simulation so I think I will construct is as designed for racing sims and then use that setup when flying. Are anyone here exprienced with buttkickers and what would be the ultimate setup? I have heard 6 buttkickers Mini LFE:s would be optimal, one for each "wheel" (on the car) and then one under the seat and another by the gas and break positions. Would swapping the mini LFE under the seat or in front for a proper big regular LFE be even better or would that just be overkill? Also I often hear people talk about "chassi" or "extended" setup or something, but what do they mean by this?
ReaperMadness Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 My rig right now is only for flight, but I have a Jetseat, a Buttkicker Gamer on the pedals and two Buttkicker miniLFE's. One on the stick and one on the throttle. First thing I suggest, get the Jetseat! I haven't used mine for racing yet, but it is amazing for flying. You will get more detailed feedback from that than just about anything else you can assemble for a reasonable price. Andre provides fantastic customer support and the software, whether it is for flying or racing, is very good. https://andres.shop/ "Chassis" mode is referring to the SimVibe software. I have no experience with it as my racing rig is not complete. Check out their setup guide to see the difference between chassis/extended. https://simxperience.com/Portals/0/Files/SimVibe/SimVibe%20Setup%20Guide.pdf I wouldn't bother with a regular LFE. The mini's will be more than adequate. It's the same transducer head as the BK Gamer.
Someone Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Superjoe, How did you mount the buttkicker to the joystick and throttle? Could you share a picture? I've mounted my throttle with a Monstertech table mount, and am somewhat unsure of how I'd attach it.
ReaperMadness Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 I don't really have great pics at the moment, I'll try to take better ones if you want. I added some spacers to my stick center mount to raise it. The transducer bolts on directly underneath on the left side using two of the spacer bolts. I am flying in a Volair sim rig so your mileage may vary.

Is there a reason you decided to mount on these specific points?
ReaperMadness Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Yeah I'm already sitting on a jetseat. Putting more transducers on the seat would just dilute that. I wanted specific feedback on the flight controls. They otherwise they didn't vibrate at all.
_outcast_ Posted August 9, 2019 Author Posted August 9, 2019 What kind of other equipment do you need except the buttkickers? Say you want 6 buttkicker LFE, what other stuff do I have to buy? Amplifier and sound card etc?

I see only one is on sale now, but it has 6 motors instead of 8 that some of the models have/had?
ReaperMadness Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 I have been using the Jetseat KW-908 with 8 motors for a little over a year now, and just got a new Jetseat FSE. I really needed the center stick relief and set the original aside for my soon to be racing rig. As far as the equipment requirements for the transducers, that really depends. I'm using two Buttkicker amps. One for the Gamer on the pedals, and one driving both the miniLFE's on the flight controls. My speaker setup for the rig runs of the optical port so I'm running the two amps off the motherboard analog with a 3.5mm splitter. Where do you plan on placing the six LFE's on the rig? With the Jetseat you really only need to be concerned with the pedals for the most part, right? I think your best money is two miniLFE's and a 2 channel amp. Put both of them on the pedals and you'd be able to have left/right distinction. I'm pretty sure Andre's "SimShaker Sound Module" software supports stereo output. I need to fire my rig up to check. Do you plan on running SimVibe or SimShaker? I only have experience with the SimShaker side, but I use SimShaker Wheels, SimShaker for Aviators and the SimShaker Sound Module. What mobo output are your speakers going to use? Optical or analog?

I am still not sure about the buttkickers, I am a real n00b in that area so have really no idea what I am doing yet :P Maybe having six mini LFE:s would be total overkill, but I have heard some who do racing say that it is nice (though I assume you need a lot less "rumble" when just flying, compared to driving) I have been thinking Ito use SimVibe, but do you know how SimShaker compares to SimVibe? Is there some things or games you can't run with one but the other etc? Is the Jetseat comatible with just SimVibe or do you need SimShaker also?

SimVibe is powerful but apparently very tricky to configure. SimShaker for Aviator, on the other hand, it´s a) free b) very easy to use Jetseat pads are very easy and quick to install, just plug it to power and USB and put it over your seat. You don´t need amps, figuring out connections and ohms, attachments and so. Having used my ForceFeel for both simracing and flight sims, I think you need a powerful punch on the two genres. My pad has 8 engines, most JetSeat pads got 6-8. I wouldn´t install less than 4 buttkickers (front, back, left and right). If you install just one buttkicker under your, guess what, ass, it obviously will feel amazing for touchdown effects, right? Or firing the Hornet gun. But what about releasing a single LGB from your right wing? side gunners on the Huey? even the refuelling probe? let me tell you Im able to difference the central gun of the A-10C compare to the slightly left mounted gun pod of the Harrier just with how the pad vibrates. Not to mention Gs effects while turning. How about that for about $200? it´s a bargain. However 4 buttkickers + amp able to drive them cost more. i5 8400 | 32 Gb RAM | RTX 2080Ti | Virpil Mongoose T-50 base w/ Warthog & Hornet sticks | Warthog throttle | Cougar throttle USB | Orion 2 throttle base w/ Viper & Hornet grips| VKB T-Rudder Mk IV | Oculus Rift S | Buddy-Fox A-10 UFC | 2x TM MFDs & 1x WW DDI | 2x Bass shakers | SIMple SIMpit chair | WW TakeOff panel | Andre JetSeat | WW Hornet UFC | WW Viper ICP FC3 - Warthog - F-5E - Harrier - NTTR - Hornet - Tomcat - Huey - Viper - C-101 - PG - Hip - SuperCarrier - Syria - Warthog II - Hind - South Atlantic - Sinai - Strike Eagle - Phantom - Mirage F1 - Afghanistan - Irak

What is the difference between SimShaker for Aviator vs the two SimShakers on sale? (Wheels and Wings) Have you tried both the JetSeat and the ForceFeel? How do they compare in your opinion? How many buttkickers do you have and what kind? (mini LFE or buttkicker gamers?) One thing that have confused me is what other equipment besides the buttkickers I need if I buy say 4 or 6 buttkicker mini LFE:s. Is there any good soundcard and amplifier that goes well with them?

Is there any good soundcard and amplifier that goes well with them? 1) No idea, I use SimHub for simracing and Simshaker for Aviators for flight sims. It´s of my understanding that in order to use buttkickers with Simshaker, you need to pay for the Sound Module expansion ($20-30). 2) Only ForceFeel. I´m temped to buy one of Andre´s JetSeat but I have other things on my to-buy list. ForceFeel and KW-908 should be very, very similar. 8 engines. However JetSeats have been on the market for several years, so one could affirm their maintenance and lifespan is somehow established. Andre´s upgrades also included easy access for spraying lubricants, for example, so in that regard JetSeat are better designed. On the other hand, only one batch of ForceFeel units were released so far, so we don´t know how reliable they are on the long term. Also, some users sent their units back with malfunctioning motor(s) and I guess, considering ForceFeel not-so-perfect customer service, that took a good while, we are talking about weeks or months here. 3) As of today, none. I have three units around my place but Im searching for a decent amp to power two of them. They are cheap($20) Amazon units. Back in the day, I used one for simracing Richard Burns Rally, attached to the pedal base, and just having a rally car at idle felt amazing :D 4) that question I don´t know the answer. I understand there are amps with 2 channels which are useful for stereo setups. Also the power of the amp is important to provide a decent level of vibration, and how to wire them depending on their ohm value.
