How do I mod a building?

I would like to modify a building by adding a sign to it EG: add the sign Star Bucks to an existing building. How do you do that? I am guessing you find a suitable building and modify it's texture map??

And what if I just wanted to make a sign? Same thing?

Yes, find the texture of the building you want to edit and then simply edit the texture.
