Boresight mode for Sidewinder

Hi all,

 

need help In open beta DCS in F-14B I have loaded sidewinder AIM-9M.

I can't select boresight mode. I have Mater Arm ON, selected SW (on hud), SW cool ON.

Default mode is NORM.

But when I click on button nothing happened. I can't switch to boresight mode.

Still is selected mode NORM.(Red backlit)

But when I select PH or SP its working. Button is possble switch to boresight mode.

 

Is here any limitation for sidewinder? Or I on something forgot?

I believe, from memory, for SW the Boresight option is there only to force the seeker back to boresight once uncaged and tracking a target. So try with an uncaged SW.

 

Opening the ACM cover will override and force to boresight in any case.

are you aware of the CAGE/SEAM function?

 

It is a button that is best mapped on your hottas, as you need to uncage the sidewinder seeker, even if you have radar lock.

 

Additionally you can uncage the seeker and point it at a visible target, which will make the seeker lock onto it, provided the right conditions.

 

IMO this is preferable over a boresighted seeker (with exceptions ofc).
