SonBias Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 (edited) Hello Everyone. I'm having an issue with The radar. Basically I start up My F-18, take off, put the right DDI on RDR page and what I see on the TDC acquisition cursor is -99 and -99 or 99 and 99. I cannot understand what is creating this issue, maybe I do something wrong in the startup, but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, so the best thing I could think of was asking for help here. Do you have any idea on what is causing this? Maybe it's really something that I forget to do on My startup? If so, can someone share with me his own startup? I I'll leave an image to show what I really see on the Radar. Thank you for your attention. Edited August 29, 2019 by SonBias
Harker Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Look at the small caret at the left side of the radar scope, all the way down. That's your antenna elevation indicator. It's all the way down, that's why your radar is scanning so low (or high, in the opposite case). Go in Controls, in the HOTAS category and make sure that you are not accidentally pressing the antenna elevation keybinds. There might be an input conflict. There was an issue where using the keybinds to zoom in and out with the TGP would also cause the antenna elevation to change, but it was fixed. eric-b92 Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 Wat Harker says, also check the axis binding for the radar elevation. it sometimes gets bound to a slider or something

My problem was exactly the axis binding for the radar elevation, now it's working fine and have no problem at all.
Sirbum Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 i am having this same issue now. I thought that in order to zoom in the TGP you had to use the Radar elevation knob under axis? If that has been changed what do you bind now to zoom the tgp in and out?
fitness88 Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 On the subject of radar scan range...the TDC elevation scan numbers indicate the amount of feet above ground level the radar is scanning. Then what do the values in the minus feet indicate?
rob10 Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 On the subject of radar scan range...the TDC elevation scan numbers indicate the amount of feet above ground level the radar is scanning. Then what do the values in the minus feet indicate? That the scan cone is partly underground. Obviously it won't scan underground, but the calculated edge of bottom end of the scan is ending up underground and trying to. In a practical sense, this means you are "wasting" the part of the beam that's trying to scan below surface level :smilewink:.

Up" from the normal (rather than axis) assignments bound to buttons on my throttle. It works on the Radar unless TGP is SOI.

I will have to try that. i found that it was working but as soon as i changed from the TGP to the FCR it automaticly started changing the elevation because the axis was zoomed out or in. So i will have to see if i can find the key you are speaking of for the radar elevation

When the radar TDC cursor scan numbers show as an example -3000 to 14,000 ft, I'm assuming this is barometric? If so, then the minus number is always basing ground level at 0 ft barometric regardless of topographic altitude? edit: =4c=Nikola just noticed your post, I must have been composing when you posted...great minds think alike Edited October 6, 2019 by fitness88
