Dave317 Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 I'm looking to get into vr soon as the newest sets appear to be far better than the first generation. I would like the pimax 5k due to the fov but I doubt I'd be able to power it. The reverb would be my next choice, are my specs up to the job? Gtx 1070 I5 3570k o/c to 4.2 24 gb ram Windows 7
Fri13 Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 I would say that you are tightly there, if you do drop all to minimum you can run it fairly ok. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
filthymanc Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 Yep. That'll work. Not the best results, but I have very similar and it's still very playable. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk
Rosebud47 Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 Actually I wouldn´t recommend the GTX 1070 to use with the P5k. I´ve upgraded from a GTX 1080 to a RTX 2080Ti for the P5k+ and the difference performancewise was significantly. The new RTX cards got a much better pixel filling rate than the GTX series, what makes a huge difference in resolutions beyond full HD and for the P5k there has to be pushed a lot of pixels. At least an upgrade to a RTX 2070 is highly recommandable. AH-64D Apache / F-16C Viper / F1 Mirage / Mi-24 Hind / F-14b Tomcat
Dave317 Posted September 15, 2019 Author Posted September 15, 2019 I'm assuming it's the GTX 1070 that would hold me back. I don't really want to start upgrading the CPU as that would mean I would need a new board and new RAM at the same time.
Rosebud47 Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 With the OC 4.2 GHz of the CPU you should be fine. Maybe you´ll running too into issues with Win7 ... AH-64D Apache / F-16C Viper / F1 Mirage / Mi-24 Hind / F-14b Tomcat
