markturner1960 Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 Hi, my TM F-18 grip just arrived. I have a warthog installed and use a real simulator force feedback R3L base for the joystick. Do I need to install anything to get the the new grip to work with the FFB base? Or should it simply plug in and be detected within DCS where I can directly assign buttons etc? Thanks System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.
BaD CrC Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 Realsimulator are not manufacturing force feedback joystick. They are using force sensors, but there is no feedback. I think that's what you meant. Just plug it in and see if it is working. Should be recognized as a simple HID device. If not, you probably need to switch the board of your TM base into the R3L one. https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
Supmua Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 (edited) It's completely plug and play, and I even use the firmware for the F-16SGRH version--hot swapping also. If you use multiple grips with the FSSB R3L, create a different profile for each of your grip to avoid issues. Whenever you swap the grip just load that particular profile that you made for it. I create separate profiles for TM Warthog, TM F/A-18, F-16SGRH, Virpil T50CM2, this way I can keep track of things. Remember TM device only supports 19 DX inputs (zero to eighteen), so do not populate switches 19+ in the software since for some reason they are active instead of inactive by default, so they will get activated perpetually if you happen to put a keyboard binding in there--this is probably a bug and I will file a report, or may be because I'm using the wrong firmware. Another way to prevent potential issue is to turn DX Button OFF in the RS_HID_Dev Tool when you plug in your TM grip. This would prevent non-Realsim grips from accessing extra DX buttons.
