Targeting POD and Maverick E

I had an issue today where I couldn't change the FOV or change between ir and camera with the FLIR FOV button. My loadout was targeting pod, A/A-weapons, 2x HARM and 2x MAV E. For some reason I had the Maverick view on the left MFD and the pod on the right MFD. With the POD in focus (diamond in upper right corner) I still changed the FOV of the Maverick screen. Isn't that a little odd?

After I got shot down (which happened quickly) I took a different loadout and then the FLIR FOV button worked for the pod again.

 

I'm not reporting a bug but merely asking if anyone else have had or can recreate this scenario.

If you have a MAV selected, the FLIR FOV button will prioritize the missile's FOV over the TPOD's, regardless of where the priority diamond is.

This allows you to locate targets with the TPOD, designate them (the seeker will uncage and attempt to lock the target automatically), hit the FLIR FOV button so the seeker zooms in, verify the target and fire, without having to ever switch priority to the IMAV page.

The only question is if the button functionality is changed while you have a MAV E, since it doesn't have an FOV setting. I don't know whether or not it does IRL.

You're not crazy. I don't select the mav until I point track the target in narrow field of view.

 

I'm not sure if it's a bug. If not someone smart can tell us why it's a feature.

I'm not following you. Why can't we change the FLIR FOV when the MAV E is selected in the stores page?

Bl**dy crap, I meant the F-version Maverick of course. Silly me, how do I change the name of the thread? :music_whistling:

Like I said, right now, this happens with both the F and E Mavericks. I don't know if it's like that in reality. If it is, it's probably a matter of the MC doing it whenever a Maverick is selected and leaving it at that, without differentiating between the two models for that particular function.

And it's not a bug, as I explained, this is done in order to give the pilot the ability to point, zoom in and shoot the Maverick F without ever having to remove TDC priority from the TPOD.
