As the first thing I do every time when I get into the cockpit is lower the brightness of both the HUD and DED, does anyone know a lua file to edit to change the default?

EDIT - as this thread has been moved, it’s worth saying that this is related to the F-16 Viper.

+1, it would be more than useful... if changing its colour too could be unrealistic, of course.

With best regards.

I’m ok with the colour once I’ve turned the brightness down!

Why has this question been moved to ‘Mods’ when it relates to the Viper?

changing the hud colour is easy.

just go to your DCS directory then to \Mods\aircraft\F-16C\Cockpit\Scripts

then open up the materials.lua file in notepad++ go to line 26 which should look like this

materials["HUD"] = {255, 2, 2, 200} --Red HUD

and change the first three numbers (the fourth is opacity) to the colour you wish.

the above numbers will give you a red HUD.

these are the original numbers for a Green HUD

materials["HUD"] = {2, 255, 2, 200}--Green HUD

I would post a screen shot but I cant find a good easy to use free hoster.

Have fun

Thank you.

I was happy with the colours, but changing the opacity value did the trick!

Thanks a lot, Soupdragon, your tip was useful to learn... until it will become possible to get a command to cicle between several settings, who knows when.

With best regards.
