Hello,

i have been trying to develope a mission and have been having problems with visibility/fog.

i am trying to get visibility down to 1/2 or 3/4 of a mile for low vis landing and carrier practice.

i have tried different settings but can not get the visibility this low.

any ideas on what settings to use in order to get this effect?

thanks in advance

Is this the sort of thing you're looking for? Here the runway becomes visible at a bit under 3/4 of a mile. Dirty weather night landing with max allowable crosswind component.

It can be done but, because the runway lights ignore the fog, you have to do it with the cloud base instead. The lowest you can set the cloud base in the ME is 300 meters ASL which isn't low enough. So you'll need to manually edit the mission file.

MIZ files are simply ZIP files containing the various files needed to create the mission. When you open the MIZ files, one of the files you'll see is "mission" with no suffix. Open it with NotePad++ and scroll down to the "clouds" section. Edit the "["base"] =" line to lower the cloud base. The lower the base, the closer you have to be to the runway, etc for it to come into view. And since the various airfields are at various heights ASL, there's no single value that works for all.

It'd be far simpler if fog concealed runway lights as well but, until they do, this is a work around.
