Hi guys....

Not sure if anyone needs this info but I thought I’d share it.

So I’ve been suffering from the dreaded ghosting effect with the Rift S and couldn’t get rid of it, until now....

I’ve basically lowered the PD in OTT down to 1.1 and turned ASW off. Still keeping the MSAA at x2 and settings are textures high, vis range medium, shadows off, trees 100%, pre load about half way.

With these it’s sitting comfortably at 80fps and is glass smooth , even over the most tree populated areas on Caucasus.

It’s got rid of the ghosting and as far as I can tell it’s had no effect on image quality at all. Both the Hornet & Viper cockpits seem to be as good as when I had PD set to 1.5.

Odd!

Yeah disabling ASW should get rid of the ghosting. I too have lowered my SS, down to 1.2 but running 4x MSAA in DCS. I have though lately started flying with ASW on, and while I get a little ghosting it is not real bad.

I wonder if ED ever decided to support Depth Buffering if that would help the artifacts, as then it would utilize ASW 2.0 for the Rift and Rift S. I doubt they would though as there are so many different headsets out in the main now.

Yeah I was kind of hoping that ASW 2.0 would be supported but probably not. As you said, there’s a lot of headsets available now.

What made you switch back to ASW on? Just out of interest. Looking at your specs you should be able to run with it off without any issues?

Yes I can run with it off for the most part, will occasionally get some slight stutters when low to the ground but not bad.

Just thought I would try with it on again for a bit and see how it does. Certainly no stutters down low.

I will probably switch it off again here in a bit.

It’s a shame you can’t just lock the frames in Inspector to 60fps for example, like you can with TrackIR. The annoying thing is is that you get stutters but the frame rate is still high. It’s odd but I guess that’s how VR is.
