What would be better for playing this sim?

A) 34" WQHD (3440 × 1440) 21:9 offer wider view and so may be better SA

B) 32" QHD (2560 x 1440) 16:9 offer larger pixels, so may be better spotting ability

Additional specs I am looking for:

min 120 Hz

max 4 ms response time

G-SYNC or G-SYNC compatible FreeSync

VA or IPS (think IPS would be better)

adjustable height

price max cca 1000$

My preliminary choice are:

A) Dell Alienware AW3418DW See here

B) LG 32GK850G see here or

Acer Predator Gaming Z321QU bmiphzx see here or

Samsung C32HG70 see here (but not sure if it is G-sync compatible)

Any suggestions welcomed, THX.

Got my Dell S2716DG yesterday and just did some fast tests with DCS World and IL-2 BoS. For DCS World I tried the F-16 PG map mission (forgot the name, is the one that you start dealing with the F-5E) and without any change on gamma or other settings on the monitor I found a little better to spot the Tigers when they are climbing, but when they are coming down to the sea doing evasive maneuvers it's still hard and also they are using dark skins.

Overall I liked the results, as I said I'm still testing some features but the new QHD resolution definitely helps a little the target spotting.

The sweetspot for 2560x1440 is 27", your DPI is high...and thus spotting is harder tbh. There, a more coarse DPI is helpful at the expense of clarity. I think that is the main thing to obey, DPI.

No sure if I understand, what do you recommend? Crisper image but harder spotting for 27" or not so good image but better spotting for 32"?

I prefer higher DPI, but you seem to prefer spotting over image quality, so the 32" would be your pick.

Got it, THX. You are right, but it does not mean I cannot change my mind. That is why I am asking for help.

It's a very personal thing, your perception plays the biggest role in making up your answer to yourself.

But tbh, the two monitors you mentioned are both on the larger pixel end of the scale for Quad-HD or Wide-Quad-HD. There wont be a substantial difference in DPI I guess.

Best would be to get in the car and drive to a larger shop that have both, or very similar, screens on display so you could have a look yourself, so you dont end up with an unpleasant surprise regarding your expectations.

I wouldn't buy either one as for my liking, anything above 27" is 4k domain and anything larger

60ish" is 8k domain, so the DPI stays HIGH. But that is my world only. Blurry images stress my eyes more than sharp ones.
