F-14 and improving FPS...

Are you using monitor or VR? I tried doing this but did not see any improvement on a 1440p monitor. Maybe I will try again.

I'm on a flat one, but i'm afraid my example won't be of much use to you, as i game on a far inferior rig and my screen is only 1080p. As a result of this i have made other compromises to keep the FPS in my desired ball park. One such example is the mirrors, my default is off and i only turn them on when i fly in low density airspace :(

 

I did manage to find use for those extra FPS i got thanks to Iron Mike, by increasing water texture quality though.....

Yes, forgot, water quality is another such of these paradoxes, but I think it is safe to say now, that these tweaks for fine for monitors, but not for VR.

 

In any case, lowering your expectations just a notch is a serious advice, btw. I know what an FPS chase can turn into, been there done that, in many sims, which ended in endless hours of tweaking and troubleshooting, settings changing and testing about a couple fps here and there... You srsly can get stuck in that. In the meantime it did not gain me much, but I could have enjoyed the game, with accepting how it ran, that is of course, if it does not run horrible. Just some fruit for thought. :)
