Baldrick33 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 I have just consolidated my race sim and flight sim rigs after experimenting using my race sim pedals (HE Pros) for rudder and toe brakes. I was using Logitech (Saitek) Pro pedals but found them a bit cheap feeling compared to my HE Pro race pedals. I know there are better rudder pedals out there but after spending some time using the HE Pros I really think I would spending a lot of money for little gain, plus I wanted to have a single seat for shakers with both flight & race sims. Yes I know aircraft rudder pedals work differently to car pedals but in all honesty it feels as immersive pushing the throttle and clutch and they are so much more precise. As DCS requires a combined axis for rudder I used Universal Control Remapper (UCR) & Vjoy to merge the axis. I then mapped the toe brakes to the individual pedals. This worked pretty well but I also experimented with modifiers to allow either rudder or toe brakes individually. By mapping the rudder axis to an unused camera analogue option using the modifier and toe brakes to the same modifier I can switch between rudder or toe brakes using the Warthog brake lever. Obviously the Spitfire is easy as I just need the rudder assigned to the pedals. I tried a few take offs and landings with the 109 and I found it quite an improvement. Just thought I would share it if others have decent race pedals they are thinking of using. Quadg Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 I started off with combined race pedals. used them for about a year. they were okay for planes but became a bit of an issue with helicopters. why I eventually got a set of crosswinds. but they are definitely better than trying to use a twist grip joystick as rudder.
