Hello everyone!

Since a few days I have a problem with DCS (latest open beta release) crashing to desktop. I noticed some crashes when switching views between my aircraft and enemy units for example. Yesterday I strarted to test some scenarios and usually DCS crashes when firing missiles (yesterday I tested the F-18 with HARM).

DCS created a .log-file and it says the following (excerpt):

2019-11-25 20:54:10.139 ERROR DX11BACKEND: semantic 'TEXCOORD0' is not declared in shader 'particlesystem2/smoketrail.fx'

2019-11-25 20:54:14.443 ERROR DX11BACKEND: Failed assert `shader != render::INVALID_HANDLE && technique != render::INVALID_HANDLE` at Projects\render\dx11backend_win8\Source\DX11Renderer.cpp:1047

2019-11-25 20:54:14.443 ERROR DX11BACKEND: Failed assert `this->wantedShader != render::INVALID_HANDLE && this->wantedTechnique != render::INVALID_HANDLE` at Projects\render\dx11backend_win8\Source\DX11Renderer.cpp:1590

I searched for DX11BACKEND and found some threads stating, that the shadow setting might be an issue. So I tried every setting on that with the same result.

I attached the log as a .zip because the .log-file is not allowed and the .txt-file is too big...:huh:

So if anyone has an idea that would be great. Thanks!

Hey thanks for your advice. I maybe shoud have mentioned, that I did uninstall DCS on Sunday and did a new install yesterday. The CTD happened with the old install and happens with the new one as well.

Did you also update all device drivers and ensure windows is up to date.

Also rename rename your DCS folder in saved games ( keep it as a backup )

test dcs after this, and attach your new crash zip folder.

If it has a track replay I would be able to test

Thank you

So, work done...time for the fun...or not? :(

I renamed the saved games folder and let DCS create a new one. After that I set up a tiny mission with a F-18 and a SAM search radar to have something to shoot the HARM at.

Same result as yesterday. Tried to launch an AIM9...same thing. I think it does not depend on weapons or aircraft.

Anyways, both log are attached as zip files.

Something went terribly wrong. Find attached a screenshot of my F-14. That doesn't look normal...:cry:

Everything, that lies in shadows, is pitch black.

Hi

thank you for the zip files, I have used your tracks to try and reproduce the crashes, but was unable, all seems normal for me.

Are you running any third party shader programmes or tweaks?

Please try deleting the fxo and metashader2 folder hereC:\Users\Alex\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\

Run a cleanup and repair in my signature.

ensure windows and your gpu driver are up to date.

Thank you

Hi, did everything as you suggested, no changes. That's some weird stuff...and I have no idea where it came from.

Just did a driver cleaning via Windows Safe Mode and installed the GPU drivers again...nothing.

I am running no third party shaders or tweaks. Just a vanilla DCS openbeta install...

It's not firing missles that is causing this issue. My DCS has been CTD since the update with mods, without mods, reinstall, repair, still the same random CTD, every time in MP.

Please post in a new thread with your dcs.log and or zip folder containing the crash info we will be happy to take a look.
