I've not really looked in the settings for a while, noticed this last night and holy crap what a significant difference. Absolutely amazing. Good work ED.

Honestly I still think some of the terrain LODs are off, particularly in Nevada, it should look more high-def, ... althought I don't have visibility range on max, but that setting shouldn't affect terrain texture LODs, needs to be separate if it does.

Modules: A-10C I/II, F/A-18C, Mig-21Bis, M-2000C, AJS-37, Spitfire LF Mk. IX, P-47, FC3, SC, CA, WW2AP, CE2. Terrains: NTTR, Normandy, Persian Gulf, Syria

Yeah Nevada could use a once over on the ground textures for sure... I don't feel like PG is great either.

 

I live in Northern AZ and have been up to vegas and various race tracks around there and.. well... It's just not great.

Are you talking about VISIB RANGE setting? I think Extreme has been available for a long time. While it does nothing to the actual texture resolution, it does increase how far out you can see detail/scenery. This gives the appearance of increasing the texture resolution.

 

You are right though, it does make a significant difference compared to lower settings. It does have a high impact on FPS though, but I keep mine on Extreme because it really does look amazing.
