jmaurin Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Hi. I'm a flight simulator X user (but it's been a while since I last used it) and I would like to start in DCS world. I'm from Brazil and we on't have too much resource here, but I'm going to USA nest december 26 and I'm planing to buy and VR and Thrustmaster Warthog....so I have some questions: 1) I'm sure this is personal (or maybe investment related), but what most of you (advanced player) usually prefer, VR or tracking? 2) If I still going to VR, this second question is: do you usually still using mouse for setting panel switchs and configurations or use VR control (or hotas controll) to do all needed changes in aircraft panel? 3) Do you usually use any button in throttle to zoom in panel? If yes, which button? (I know that Cap from GR uses an roller button from throttle, but it's a different HOTAS than Warthog). 4) Same question for radio coms. 5) About radio com (in multiplayer), do you use external program like Tem Speak? If so, can we integrate into DCS for channel/frequency chaneg, or it's totally independent? I'm pretty sure most of buttons and VR are personal, but a general ideal (or most used setup) will help a lot! I have another questions about buying from e-shop and steam, but I just found the answer: I can't mix both stores, so I should pick one :( Tks!

I'm a new Rift S and Warthog user (bought the throttle recently, and been using the stick on a VKB base for longer). 1) Having been a TrackIR5 user... now I most definitely prefer flying in VR. Yes, it's that much more immersive. The tradeoff in picture quality is worth it. 2) I'v mapped as many frequently used functions as possible on the HOTAS setup, but still use mouse in VR (my stick is centrally mounted, so the right-hand shelf of my sim chair supports it). 3) So far in DCS I use a stick button to zoom in. 4) Yes. I use VoiceAttack with the VAICOM plugin and added module-specific voice commands. It works great. 5) That would be SRS (as in Simple Radio Standalone, not Sexual Reassignment Surgery :P). Cheers! Ryzen 3600X - RTX 2080 - 32 GB Ram - DCS on SSD. DCS Modules : M2K-C, F18-C, FW-190D, Huey, Gazelle, Black Shark, Mig-15, all maps.
Dannyvandelft Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 I ONLY fly in VR on the Rift S. Without it it just sucks. I just wish it was as pretty as my 1440p 144 Hertz monitor lol. I fly with the Warthog HOTAS and Thrustmaster rudder pedals and leave most controls in their standard settings. I never have to use zoom. Startup and in flight switches are controlled with the Rift controllers. I don't have to use keyboard or mouse. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
