WingC3 Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 I'm wondering why it is that the F-16 and F-18 have different IFF+Datalink behaviours even though they're both using Link-16? Principally: Why does the F-18 remember IFF data on friendlies after the interrogation has ended, but the F-16 does not? In the F-18, once you interrogate a target, it turns green and stays green as long as it is continually detected, even if it's not on datalink. In the F-16, a interrogated friendly, does not get recorded permanently as friendly (green) unless it is also on datalink. Is this the way it really is, or is this WIP?
camel1 Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 I think you are talking about this bug: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=257305
KlarSnow Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Yes it does work like that. F-16 does not permanently change the track, it only displays it as friendly while you are interrogating. The hornet does do all of that IFF/ROE integration stuff for tracks.
WingC3 Posted December 20, 2019 Author Posted December 20, 2019 I think you are talking about this bug: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=257305 I'm not, since I submitted that bug, but it is related.

KlarSnow Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 thats not link 16, thats the jet integrating link 16 data with its IFF system, there is no "standard" for how this stuff is displayed or integrated, just for how the data is passed around and how to hook into the network.
