witness_me Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 i can't find a way to launch sd10's against datalink contributed targets in assisted mode / with mid-course updates/guidance, when my radar is on standby or silent. Is this functionality missing because of early access or it's a bug / i'm missing something?
Harker Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 (edited) You mean that you want to launch against a contributed target that is not detected/tracked by your radar, keep your radar on silent and guide the SD-10 to the target only via the AWACS-missile (off-board) datalink? As far as I'm aware, this functionality (off-board guidance) is not currently supported in DCS. That, or I missed an announcement. foxwxl Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 Off board guidance or CEC is NOT supported by Jeff. It's just a cost-effective A/C, not a super advanced heavy fighter . Deka Ironwork Tester Team

Cost effective does not necessarily mean less effective. JF-17 is design to be the backbone of PAF and to compete with the best fighters of the world (rafale, su30 mki) Block III with sd-10B will have the ability to awacs missile guidance and PAF want to make block II compatible too. Then the JF-17 will be a cost effective aircraft, but a super advanced heavy fighter too :)

JF-17 is truelly the backbone of the PAF, but does not mean it is equal to the Rafale, especially with the Block I & II versions. (otherwise Dassault won't sold Rafale at a prize that U can buy 3 or more JF-17). That's the reason why PAF need Block III or even more. Also Block III has just made it's first flight, its final design may not even frozen (like 01 -> 04 prototype). I'm wondering how U know what BLOCK III and SD10B are capable of? :) Edited January 1, 2020 by foxwxl Deka Ironwork Tester Team
sylkhan Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 ..but does not mean it is equal to the Rafale, No fighter is equal to the Rafale :) That's the reason why PAF need Block III or even more. Correct PAF need Block III at least.
witness_me Posted January 2, 2020 Author Posted January 2, 2020 oh noes :( thanks for the the info :) yeah i was talking about collaborative tracking (ncct) - it's been part of the link16 spec since early 2000 / was assuming the jeff would be compatible/support it, since it's using a Pakistani developed datalink based on/compatible with link16 (and maybe ttnt/mp-cdl etc ?) yeah i should have known that might be the case with the cheap radio.. oh well, crowdfunder to add jtrs to the jeff (and dcs)? p.s. do you want to move/delete this so that it doesn't clutter the bug reporting sub-forum ?
