Harker Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 This is the backup UHF radio console. You can use that with battery power only, before engine and systems start. Once the jet is fully started, the ICP is used to control both the UHF and the VHF radio through the DED. You'd use that radio console to contact the tower and request engine start or switch to it in case of ICP or DED failure etc. The vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Mar Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Don't forget to mention that you switch to it by setting the CNI knob (near the IFF knob, closer to the throttle) too in the backup (left) position.
