joojoo Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 Hey to all Maybe its a stupid question but I want to ask what is the boresight of a missile/aircraft? Thanx
gekoiq Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 Think of it as "Pointed straight ahead" If you bore sight a Maverick for example, it will return the seeker gimble to be pointed straight ahead.
Harker Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 Aligned with the aircraft, basically. Fixed point of view of a missile or sensor that generally looks straight ahead. The term "boresighting" is also used when performing an alignment process for such a device. For example, the boresight ACM mode in the Hornet, it will focus the radar only straight in front of you. Tusker Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 Think of it as literally looking down the bore of a rifle. That's where the term came from.
