Allowable Steering Error (F-15 vs. F/A-18), Missile guidance

This is a complicated one....

Might consist of couple of issues....

On the F-15, when you align the ASE dot (allowable steering error dot) spot on, on a fast, beaming target, you missiles will always steer into the bandit (pure pursuit) on launch and only correct around 10 seconds into their flight, which only drains energy and negates the whole purpose of the ASE....

Comparing it to the Hornet, in the same conditions, the missiles pretty much follows the dot on launch...

Never the less your missile will still not hit due to a weird guidance behavior in some way or another, even tho you have shot it in the NEZ and the target keeps a constant speed and does not take any defencive measures (missiles might get close, but proximity fuze won't work) .... This is true for both AIM-7 with its new guidance and the AIM-120...

The missiles in the F-15 track I am attaching do hit, but only due to the close range and higher speed of the Eagle....

Here is the thing tho.... in the beginning I just thought that the ASE on the Eagle was bugged, but now, thinking about it.... it seems like the F-15 ASE indeed shows the best intercepting ASE, but the guidance on the missiles just doesn't want to follow it... where as on the other hand, the lead you get in the Hornet is just a lot smaller, to an amount where the missile can do its pure pursuit straight away, as the lead you are giving it is a lot smaller....

You can see all missiles 10 seconds into their flight (TacView) realize they won't hit and start pulling a lot of lead, but too late at that point....

You can also notice missiles almost intercepting the target, nearly parallel to the target, when they suddenly do a sharp turn and loose their last chance for a hit.
