Justin1Ntime Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 (edited) So I am new to this game, and I have to say with VR I love it. This is about as close to flying the real thing than I have ever seen. But there are so many buttons to push and things to remember. I would like to practice one thing over and over so it becomes second nature. then move on to the next thing and rinse and repeat. I have finished the training (Started with the FA-18c) but I hate having to sit through the dialog when replaying the training modules. It takes for ever. Is there a way I can just set up some drones so I can practice changing weapons and radar modes without getting blown out of the sky in before I can figure out what is going on :) Sorry for the dumb question. draconus Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 Of course you can. If you don't find anything like that in Instant Missions, use Mission Editor to make one. If it's too much trouble for you I can upload some later. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Tippis Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 Two options you might want to look into is the difficulty settings where you find such obvious candidates as invulnerability, unlimited fuel, and unlimited weapons. Unless a mission is specifically set to disallow these (and most training and instant action missions aren't), you can flip them on and just try over and over until either the enemies run out of fuel or one of your weapons actually connect. The other is slightly less obvious, as it's hidden away on the bind screen without much further explanation (other than that it's in the “cheats” section): active pause. Press LShift + LWin + Pause and your aircraft will sit stock still in the air but everything else will be moving around you and all systems work as normal. This is a great way to be able to slowly pace your way through the use of sensors and setting up weapons on various MFDs, without worrying that you'll overfly the target by 400nm by the time you get everything sorted. If / when you get into the grisly details of creating specific training missions, you'll want to look up how to set “waypoint actions”, and more specifically, you'll get good use out of the ROE = Weapons hold, and Reaction to threat = Ignore options. These make enemy aircraft just fly around without a care in the world, not trying to shoot you and not trying to run away (or even dodge your weapons). ❧ ❧ Inside you are two wolves. One cannot land; the other shoots friendlies. You are a Goon. ❧ ❧
Justin1Ntime Posted January 23, 2020 Author Posted January 23, 2020 Ok cool, I have never created a mission before. I clicked on it early on and was overwhelmed when the map came up. Wasn't sure where to start or even where i was taking off from. I think all these are good places to start.
Pikey Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 Look for the airplane icon, then click anywhere on the map. Click on that plane On the right side, find the plane you want to practice on, in the drop down list (yellow planes only) Set the skill level to Player or Client. Set the initial waypoint as what you want which can be cold on the ground, hot start, runway or in air. Takes 15-20 seconds. That's it. And then you know how to add things; all the docs for the ME are in the isntallations Doc folder. The other tip is "active pause", tooltips, then a bunch of easy mode settings which can be found in the game settings not the mission, where you set your graphics. ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *
Justin1Ntime Posted January 23, 2020 Author Posted January 23, 2020 Thanks guys, this really helps me get started. Totally appreciate the responses.
Mogster Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 I see you have the FA18 but the A10C is a really good to start out as there’s a wealth of “blow things up” tutorials online and the module is usually cheap and it’s feature mature. Personally I’ve used this one as a refresher for the A10 several times. https://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3171145/how-to-use-weapons-picture-guide-gbu-12-gbu-38-agm-65-and-grs-to-cdu-r
