HR-Crumble Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 Hi guys what is the difference between these two modes? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
kengou Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 They basically allow you to have two different preset air to air modes. It’s not implemented yet but each master mode should save the missile, radar, and mfd settings so you could set one up for long range, one for pop up threats, or whatever you like. Okay so not implemented yet I’ll leave that button alone then. How do you get 120s to fire boresight with Radar lock? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Frederf Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 The differences are slight. One of the most important facts about AA and MRM is that they are separate. This means that the MFD setup, FCR preferences, etc. can be different. This allows you to set up AA as RWS and MRM as TWS and quickly switch between them for example or even different bar/azimuth settings of the same mode. Note that "Missile Override (MSL)" is a mode name present in earlier variants of the F-16. The variant modeled in DCS has the name MRM Override (MRM) although it may still be referred to generically as "missile override". This changes the labels on the SMS format to read "MRM" instead of "MSL". Previously MSL didn't necessarily pick AIM-120 if available while I believe MRM does in the same manner that DGFT picks AIM-9 if available. I'm about 85% sure of that one. AA-AAM can be changed over to GUN mode on the SMS format. MRM can't. MRM can set AIM-9 coolant gas on automatically, AAM won't.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I think the AA/MRM separate radar preferences were already modeled. I'll check. AIM-120 BORE launch requires having the AIM-120 selected, SLAVE/BORE option set BORE which can be done through SMS or hold enable to temporarily set BORE from SLAVE, and lastly hold uncage while pressing the weapons release button until it fires. If the AIM-120 is in SLAVE it's a 3-button operation; if in BORE it's a 2-button operation.
